I'm presuming he holds the record for least number of handshakes as well.

You have to be pretty naieve to think that Terry won't be found guilty. Whether or not he is found guilty purely on the facts of the case or the fact that he's a completer and utter ****, is open to debate, but he will be found guilty.
The case shouldnt be in July, it should have been done ASAP. I can't see how an England squad with a lot of black players will unite around the inclusion of John Terry in the squad, let alone being captain!

whatever people think of him, in an england shirt he gives 100%, hes our best centre back still -despite him being nowhere near what he used to be, and hes our best on the pitch leader...id just quit if i was him, if people really think lescott or cahill are the answer then let them have a go and see how we get on.

It's not a question of being innocent until proven guilt, it's a question of putting your club or country before yourself. He should have resigned from the captaincy and indeed the team until this trial in July is done and dusted. While he continues he put unnecessary pressure and distraction on both his club and country.

Speaks volumes for Terry's character that he hasn't resigned before now, ie. he hasn't got any!

Smalling and Jones will very shortly become Manchester United first choice centreback pairing. If England don't do the same, they would be stupid. When was the last time we had a centrback pairing the same at club and international level???

what if he is then proven innocent and hes missed his chance of probably his last major tournament? if he believes he really is innocent, why should he lose that honour? probably what hes thinking

    When Arsenal were English?

The most successful CB pairing in the Premiership though must have been Bruce and Pallister, and they never got close to playing together for England.

weak willed FA. :emoticon-0111-blush what an utter disgrace of a decision this is. <eek> so much for being innocent until proven guilty. :emoticon-0108-speec if i were Capello i would quit now and let the FA muppets run the team. <yikes> this for sure will now split the squad and i would think this will rumble on for longer than is healthy. as for englands chances ? forget it. :steam: will do well to get out of the group stages. <ok>

    R.I.P. Englands football team.

It is stupid that they couldn't get this case heard before the tournament, how is Terry supposed to play alongside the brother of the bloke he's supported to have abused?

Anyway, it's quite obvious from the video that Terry just shouted 'blackcurrant', maybe Ferdinand just drinks a lot Ribena? :emoticon-0112-wonde

No chance, Tony Adams and Martin Keown were far far better. Bruce never played for England as was not considered good enough.

I've just answered that; because his presence has a detrimental effect on his country. Nobody said it was fair, we all have times when things happen that aren't fair, but it shouldn't stop you from doing what is right.

I think the opposite. On this occasion the FA are being strong-willed.

This isn't something that should concern the England Manager because it is nothing to do with football, it just happens to have occured on a football pitch. The FA would have consulted Capello, I'm sure, and I'm equally sure he will have agreed with their point of view. He is experienced and moral enough to know that football, despite popular belief, does NOT operate in a bubble. The rule of law does not stop once you step foot on a football pitch.

Precisely, whoever was England Manager at the time (Graham Taylor and Terry Venables???) missed out on the best centreback pairing of that era.

Cappello knows that Terry is the only person good enough to Capt. England at the moment. The rest are just not upto it. Capello wants Terry and should tell tghe FA that he stays as Capt. If the FA say he has to go then Capello should. On a point of issue and morales this is scandalous. Capello has been under-mind by his bosses.
England are a mess and run by a gigger mess. R.I.P. Englands football team. imo.

Regarding the date for the trial there are a lot of things that have to be done to get the matter for trial, not least Court availability for what could be a lengthy trial. I don't know how many witnesses the prosecution and defence intend to call.

According to criminal justice stats from 2010 (I couldn't find any more up to date figures) the average waiting time from when a case is sent to the Crown Court and the start of the trial is 24 weeks which would be mid-July by my calculation.

Edit - it appears that the trial will be in the magistrates' court as the offence he's been charged with can only be tried there. Trials in magistrates' courts are heard a lot faster than crown court trials so it appears that the court has pandered to a request by Terry's legal team for the trial to take place after the Euro's.
