Hulse looked the same old ****e to me against Villa WBA. I've got a better 1st touch than Hulse and I'm middle aged!!

I think that we need to get this in perspective. Any way you look at it our squad now is far stronger and deeper than it was at the start of the season, there’s simply no comparison. Personally I would have had Ephraim in the squad over Hulse, but I think the main reason for Hulse’s inclusion is the current injury crisis amongst our strikers, and I’m more than happy to bow to Hughes’s judgement on this and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Right, that’s me done. All this level-headed debate over the merits of our 25 man squad is doing my head in, so I think I’d better leave the board in protest.

Let's assume we stay up, we convert the Taiwo and Diakite loans to buys, and Sparky is allowed to bring another 4 in over the summer, plus Ali coming back. One will have to be a CB.
Which 5 do you think we will say a final goodbye to? For me:
    Hall
    Derry
    Hill
    Hulse
    Mackie
    Smith
    Campbell
    Bothroyd
Are top of the at risk list, in that order. Barton and Adel may also be if they don't get on with Hughes, and SWP if he doesn't deliver something. Gabbidon ageing and on one year contract I think.... Looking at it like this we are still a long way from having serious competition for every position. Haven't thought about keepers, but would be surprised if we don't see some changes there too.
Could be a very busy summer.

I know he is in the 25 man squad but if we need to start with hulse again, we must be in deep ****.

If Hulse is to be rejuvenated, who better to do it than the old master Sparky himself?
MH must see something good in the Hulster, and good luck to him. He'll get my support every time he plays.

Don't often disagree with you WBA but have to here. If MH had taken a look at videos of any of the games Hulse has started for the Rs it's hard to see how he would have named him for the supporters club let alone a PL 25. The second time he has made the cut so there really is some mystery here: perhaps he makes more of an impact in training but TBH that's irrelevant - the only thing that matters is how he performs on match days and without exception that has been ****e. Very poor call by MH as with Warnock before him.

Maybe AAAAARGGGHH thats why we're not football managers eh? I still contend Hughes wouldn't carry any passengers especially with Hogan in the mix.

Anyway he has a sensible haircut and sometimes that balance in the squad is required especially when we have employed a certain Msr Cisse. You can't have a full starting 11 of Benoit-Assou-Ekotu's with deranged follicles now can you? Exactly.

Seems like a good decision to me. Realistically neither Hulse nor Ephraim are going to be in the starting 11 this year unless there are injuries. Therefore, you have to think who is more like to come on as a sub and make a difference/do a job? For me...Hulse is more able to come on, add some physical presence, hold the ball up and protect a point...or even 3 points. Ephraim doesn't offer anything that we don't already have. Sad to see him out of the 25 though.

He may have talent, matth, but we haven't seen a lot of it. Plenty of effort for not very much. Still, hope he learns from Sparky and comes back to you a better man

Macheda's starts will be severely limited from now on, dependent on injuries and suspensions. Cisse and Zamora first choices, Campbell, Bothroyd after that and on Wednesday Hulse got picked ahead of him. Taarabt may also be picked up front. Ferguson may take him back if he doesn't play.

I think that Macheda being on loan is a good thing. We have a lot of different type of strikers, and hopefully he will learn from Cisse, Zamora and mabe DJC (when fit) and HH.
I think Hulse was chosen ahead of Hogan because we are in a relegation scrap, and at this time a heavy weght offers a bit more than a light weight. I do hope HE will go to a decent side on loan and come back a better stronger player. On an earlier part of this thread, it was mentioned by SB about players not being here next year and I can see a few of those following NW to his next club and Betty and DJC having until the summer to prove themselves. Mackie and Smith may (in my opinion) stay next summer but that would depend on whether we are offered stupid money for either, whether they can force there way into the side and who arrives. Would have been interesting to see who would have missed out had Ali been fit.

To be fair I didn't hear many QPR names at all in the second half as we didn't touch the ball.

Yeah but hes like that in virtually every game he plays. Its like playing with 10 men because he doesnt get involved. At least SWP looks like doing something before he messes up.
