Now before anyone starts no, I'm not saying we are like Man U or going to win the title but, from going into games with that lets hope but I know realy we wont feeling its now yes, I honestly think we will win. We have Stoke away then Arsenal at home, neither easy but in many ways Arsenal a lot easier right now than Stoke, I see no reason why we cant win both. Before the second half against Boro I would have hoped more than thought, in my rambling way thats what I have been getting at, its been wonder goals against the run of play. I know one swallow does not make a summer but on Wednesday everything clicked into place, the hard work and graft of earlier games was joined by skill and quality, Campbell was the catilist and is rightly getting all the plaudits but it was much, much more than Campbell. Turner looked like a proper CB, not only strong but with skill, yes I did mention Turner and skill in the same sentance. Both Richardson and Bardo not only defended well but also joined the attack, what was Bardo doing pointing to were he wanted the ball, in the Norwich goal mouth, for that third goal. In midfield Gardner and in particular Colback simple bossed it and on each wing with Larsson and Mclean we had theat after threat. Sess finaly looked happy and free, like a man who had found his partner at last, somone to share the load and give him the freedom to shine and shine he did. Now I am not saying we will win our next two games but I have a feeling that the players now expect to and so do I, its a good feeling. So I expect us to respect Stoke and Arsenal and I expect tough games, mind I expected a tough game on Wednesday but cant go along with Norwich played bad, we made Norwich play bad and you could see it nd feel it from the first kick.
I agree. It comes to matches now and I think we can win all our matches...even against the top 4. Why can't we win them, I think we have proven we can beat any team. The two games we have lost are by 1-0 score lines against Chelsea and Spurs. I now fully believe we can get 6 points against Stoke and Arsenal. They are both different games, but unlike your pal Bruce, MON can change his tactics depending on the team we are playing. I think we as fans can now look forward to the future of SAFC, and enjoy the history MON will bring.
It's certainly a happier club both on and off the pitch these days but we are only 9 league games and 2 cup games into his reign Syd. Maybe a tad too early for this sentiment yet. I think that our future does look exciting though and I absolutely look forward to what Mon will bring us going forward. I would love to see the lads win a cup and if we can keep this form up, who knows what this season will bring us yet? If we can win just one trophy, after nearly 40 barren years and much heartache, then we can lay some claim to maybe 1% of how a man utd fan feels. Until then, I just like the feeling Mon has brought me as a Sunderland fan since December and long may it continue. BTW, I did tell you all this was possible back in September. Lol
I'm sure I'm not alone in this feeling, but. Remember, this is Sunderland, something is bound to go wrong soon, wont it ?
I hoped we could win matches under Bruce. I know we can win matches under MON. Will we ever be like Utd fans expecting to win every match? I bloody hope so.
Is This How it Feels to Support Man U? I am sorry but there is no way that I am moving to Surrey and I can't stand prawns. But don't forget between the Stoke and Arsenal games we have a local derby to get out of the way. Hmmmm or is it a local derby. Okay guys let's not start that discussion again.
The cup match coming up at Boro is for me the most important game of the season so far..If we can win that one, then our fans may start to believe we can actually win something...
Campbell may indeed be a catalyst together with I've got a left foot McClean. I also went along Wednesday night thinking we were going to have a very tough game, well we were good and they were poor. I know I know I keep going on about it but let's get to 41 points and take it from there. Last season the game against Stoke was pivotal, not in a good way. Our weakness against Norwich was their front two were winning headers against O'Shea and Turner. Well on Saturday that will be tested even more, perhaps 3 CBs with the big Greek coming in? I hope I am not sounding too half empty, I am still smiling at the Campbell and Sess goals, and perhaps Frazier is the striker I have been pleading for but let's get 11 more points and take each game as it comes, not sure who is ref tomorrow but a lot will depend if he allows the Stoke players to get away with their cheating.
It's not how it feels to be a United fan. A United fan over the past 20 years has developed a thirst for success, and anything less than a win in any game generally won't do. You lot are on a high from beating a few promoted teams and some dross, and a sorry City side. For a United fan, apart from the City result, it would feel satisfying to beat them but we wouldn't have our heads in the clouds from beating teams that we expect to beat with ease, unless we trounced them all 5-0. The way you're playing your football is probably more like what a United fan is used to seeing, because we dominate games (historically over the past 20 years or so) and finish our chances, so I can see where you're drawing your comparisons from. Whilst I agree that there's no reason you can't beat Stoke and Arsenal, I also see the reasoning that Britannia is a tough place to go and Arsenal could click on any given day, therefore I see no reason as to why those two teams won't both beat you either. I think you'll get 2 draws for the record.
