For your teammates and for the fan You stalked the turf and ran and ran OH, Bobby Zamora, your devotees sang Around the Cottage, their refrain rang Central Defenders you buised, they felt like dying They wanted their Mums, you left them crying Your body was battered, but you never gave up In 2009, you nearly won us a cup We will not for get you, our dear warrior friend And when you come to the Cottage, we'll sing for you again
Yesterday's crowd response to West Brom striker failures while their shots went to row Z was: "Are you Bobby in disguise?" and "No more Bobby Zamora"!
I certainly won't be singing his name again. I appreciate what he gave our club, but we've seen the worst side of him this season in his attitude and apparent refusal to adjust to Jol's tactics. And now thats been compounded by joining our rivals. I actually went to the Villa QPR game yesterday and would have really struggled to see Bobby in a QPR shirt, so just as well he didn't play.
BZ has gone,he was our highest paid player, and now has moved on to pastures new. I feel DR you may be chanting a lone lament, there certainly wont be many eulogies, or poems about his demise from my corner of the stands, and possibly not from the Hammy end either.
The way I look at it, BZ cost £4.8m and if we sold him for £6m or even £4m (still don't what it really was) Bobby was a good investment. Mind that's trying to be level headed after the event.
I appreciate his contribution to the team ... I'll miss him. And given that he's, what 31, landing a 2.5 year contract that pays him well it probably the best way to see out the rest of his career.
LOL Bandit! And I like DR's ode even if I don't agree with the sentiment. Bobby has been a good player for us in the past but not this season. As I've said before I think this is partly attitude and partly an accumulation of injuries. He's past his best, he's 31 and he's becoming more injury prone. Getting £6m for him is a good deal and I really think the bosses at QPR are mad if they're going to pay him £80k a week. Obviously it's disappointing we haven't got a direct replacement but I'm interested to see what Pog can do.
BZ gave us two good seasons - 9/10 and 10/11 - I appreciate him for that. When fit and on form, with the right partner he was very good. I think now or this summer would be the right time for him to leave due to injuries, age, loss of form. No Regrets. Thanks for the good times
Tosh . Not really,it just seems from this side of the fence that he wished to leave, and this seemed a good opportunity. And lets face it,the 80k + he is reputed to get. (baring in mind I believe he was our highest paid player. Would you think that he was worth that amount to Fulham on this seasons performances.
He asked for 90k initially and they just laughed it off. It's the reason the personal terms took the entire day.
