What a stupid thread this is. <doh> Get a life you wum and better still feck off to the TWS. You are needed there. <ok>

Agree with Hessle Tigers posts. Hull City were 5th now 6th. Still in play offs. Win @ Pompey and we are 4th. 1-0 wins will do for me. We have the strongest defence in the championship. Keep our opponents to Nil and we only need One. For sure we wont lose the game. My glass is half full. Barmby Out indeed ? Its like saying Messi is crap. :embarrassed:

I don,t agree with NB being sacked as in the original post, i just wish he had brought in a couple of players to freshen things up in the striking department, Josh King is one for the future but thats not likely to be with us, like others on here, i,d be very worried if we lost Chester, Mckenna and Koren to injury, they are the spine of our team at times, i also think a lack of quality signings might and i say might lead to players becoming complacent, due to knowing that there is no one to take their place in the side, have we really got strength in depth to replace chester, rosie, mckenna, and koren, personally i don,t believe we have and last saturday confirmed that for me, I want NB to be a success but by admitting to having not actually looked for alternative strikers could be a major faux pas on his behalf, if he loses sections of the fans, it tends to be a matter of time before others follow, his interview technique has changed within the last few weeks, he sounded defensive tuesday night, a little like NP used to do, as i,ve said, i really hope he has had a change of heart and between now and the 7th he looks to see who might be available on loan, pompey are struggling financially, why not put in a cheeky bid for Varney or Morris or the big striker Futacs, it frees up some money for them and they are hardlly in a position to say no, set the deals up whilst we,re down there this weekend.

thats the whole theme of this thread, the goals bit hasn,t been sorted out and what we have doesnt seem to work right now and the fact that new options weren,t looked at, is a bit of a cock up within our management team, not just NB but those with him, with more experience who maybe should have contributed some input.

Anyone who seriously belives Nick Barmby hasn't looked to strengthen more is wrong, he clearly has. Some of us know this for facts, some of you bury your heads in the sand. Changing managers does not work not one of the top six who finished in the play offs changed their mananger during the season. Not one of this years so far have, all three of the bottom three did last year, two of the bottom three this year have. ANyone see the pattern?

Well we're already ****ed then aren't we?

And it's pretty stupid of a manager who's being criticised for not signing a striker to turn round and say he didn't even look to see if anyone was available.

so when NB himself clearly states in a radio interview, that he did not look for anyone else because he and his staff were happy with what we have, then we heard that and are critical of it have our heads in the sand, get real mate, he said it himself, if its nots true, then he shouldn,t have said it and is now lying to the fans, not a good move really, if he did look, then why didn,t he just say, we did have a look but those we felt would make us better were out of our spending range and those we could afford were no better, that would have been a better statement to come out with, rather than what he actually said on tuesday night,

whatever your facts are, they don,t change what NB actually said, if you know different, then post what you know because to have faith in NB wehave to take what he says as the truth, we,ve had enough managers and chairman in the past feeding us lies and deceit, we don,t need it again.

Nick has to be diplomatic, he's been talking down transfer activities since day one, he doesn't want us to get too excited, he doesn't want to upset he existing squad and I'm sure he's also concious of not increasing the pressure on his employers. He is looking at players and as soon as we've managed to secure a target, we'll know about it, I don't think there's anything wrong with the way he's currently conducting himself.

I know if i was faced with the same goaless scenario playing FM and my imaginary chairman said to the local media that i had "millions" to spend in the upcoming january transfer window id be banging on his door 8am jan 1st!.Not getting B Sharpe or someone like R Fuller or A.N Other to push on is puzzling to say the least and will probably cost us our play off hopes.Unless he has some superstar like Tevez lined up when the loan window opens.

There's being diplomatic, and there's being ridiculous. You're at the end of the January window, why is it going to upset the squad if he says he was looking for one or two players to give us cover and some different options? It's not casting doubt on anybody's ability, it's saying we don't have some types of player that we could find useful. If you're Fryatt you're not going to be getting upset because the manager says he wanted to sign a big targetman type player but there weren't any available that he was happy with.

I'd be shocked if Guardiola (or who ever deals with Barca's transfers) came out and said he hadn't even looked to see what was available in January, never mind someone who's managing the 26th best placed team in England. All it does is mean that any continued failing by the team in that department is now going to be acting like a noose round Barmby's neck with huge chunks of the support.

depends when we scored them. if it was a 6-0 win instead of a 1-0, we would be 5th. On the other hand, change the 4 draws into wins and one defeat into a win we would have 11 more points and be top by 4 points.

but we didn't, we are where we are and we have what we have.

everyone is entitled to an opinion and mine is that anyone calling for Barmby out at this point must be a product of the Xbox/iPhone generation where attention spans are measured in seconds and patience has been deleted from the dictionary.

it's way to early to make any kind of judgement on whether Barmby (& the team) can deliver what we want in the long term.

indeed we do and who on here can say for certain what will happen in the last 18 games ? with a few more goals Hull City would on 60+pts total maybe more. lets see what happens in the loan window and how games go over the next few weeks. if the goal scoring is still an issue when the loan window closes and city have fallen out of the top 6 then i can understand the vitriol on here. but for now its a tad to early. at least its an exciting watch to see what happens.

Agreed, I just don't think he's making things easy on himself making comments about not even looking at the transfer market. Now unless he does now bring someone in on loan, at the end of this season if our goalscoring hasn't improved and we don't get promoted those comments will be brought back up by people, and he'll be under pressure from day one next season unless he's signed a proven striker over the summer. Had he said nobody that would offer us anything different was available at a sensible price it would have kept the players on side (variety rather than replacement), and at the same time appeased the fans. In fact no it's more than that, the fans would have been sharing his frustration rather than being frustrated with him.
