I was planning on updating this thread as more news was released from the press conference, but bugger all has happened since I started it.
I thought that as well but the thought of Fryatt been up front on his own makes me downbeat so I didnt want to put it!
Whats up with Stewart? I noticed people saying he wasn't expected to start against Donny until Brady got injured, now you're saying you wouldn't expect him to start on Saturday. Is he fatigued, took a knock or is it purely due to poor form?
NOR I. . he needs a rest / break. same team as tuesday Except Brady in for Stewart. Mannone Rosenoir Chester Hobbs(c) Dawson McKenna Evans McLean Koren Brady Fryatt subs:- Carson - Dudgeon - Olifinjana - King - Stewart.
Struggling with a bit of form, and in need of a rest. As I said in another thread he has played and started nearly every game after being out injured for 9 or so months and he is still very young and has hit a bit of a wall in his recovery. Their hands were pretty much tied on Tuesday with Brady out and King tired after the cup game, so Cam had to start. I don't know for certain but from what NB has said privately then Im expected him to be benched with Brady def starting and again, just my personal hunch, King in for Fryatt, with McLean moving up top. Also don't expect to see Oli starting just yet.
I dont expect to see Oli starting just yet. There are bigger and tougher games ahead that Oli should start in.
I just think the management team think Aaron will be better at holding up he ball and allowing Koren and the other two (whoever they are) in to the game.
I don't like having just the one player up front, he seems to get isolated quite easily. And Mclean;s not a winger. I'd have Mannone Rosey, Chester, Hobbs, Dawson Brady, Evans, Mckenna, Stewart Fryatt, Koren
I think McLean is more use up front, and whilst we haven't seen a lot of him, I don't get the impression King is going to be a striker. I think he'd have a similar problem to Fryatt. Just a hunch though, it's obviously way too early to say. Based on what premiertiger says I guess we should expect to see: Mannone Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dawson Evans McKenna Brady Koren King McLean I wouldn't be too unhappy with that. If we miss Stewart for one game and he comes back fresher and better for the next few games then great.
i dont like 1 up front either, at 1st it was very attacking and free flowing, but as each game goes on it seems to become more and more like a 4-5-1.....ive only posted a team with 1 striker as i dont see much chance of it changing anytime soon.
Here's hoping barmby will change the formation slightly. we need the strikers on the pitch in their correct positions and not out wide !! let the wingers play out wide, stewart, brady maybe even koren... but have the likes of fryatt, simpson or mclean up front in the middle.
The good thing about this formation and bad thing about 442 is Koren. His best role is a free role off a striker so our current formation allows us to play probably our most skilful player in his best position, if you play 442 you have to either stick him wide or risk him in the middle, and we all know he isn't the best at tracking back and making tackles. Yes that means a striker less of the pitch but as long as Koren is scoring from his role as support them its pretty much an eye for an eye. We now have a manager who likes to play football, you will never see NB play long ball football and given our current squad and strength of certain players he feels this system plays to our strengths.
I would also like to see Simpson be involved. Someone said to me and I agreed that Barmby said Simpson is in his plans and yet since he's returned, he has played only two minutes and grabbed an assist...
So why not play a 4-1-2-1-2 and put Koren behind the strikers and McKenna in front of the back four, King and Brady on the wings.
