Do you think this trial will prevent Redknapp from becoming England manager, even if he is aquitted?

I he is aquitted, then clearly it is judged he has done no wrong. Under those (unlikely!) circumstances then he clearly could become the next England Manager.

He'll conveniently get away with it before Capello steps down.

From his evidence today <laugh>He added that he "referred to it to him [Mr Beasley] many times as my Crouch bonus" as "Crouch is an easy answer".

No Harry the truth is the easy answer, "Crouch is an easy answer" when you are asked what is the surname of your tall lanky centre forward? <doh>

I am not convinced he will be first choice for the job anyway. But to answer the question, no I don't think it will prevent him being in the running, whether guilty or aquitted.

He might be in the running officially if found innocent, but he's not coming over well in court. Can you see FA officials wanting to mix it with a 'barrer boy.' The media probably love him more than football's hierarchy do.

I think he'll fit right into the FA. Guilty or not.

When you consider who we've had as captains..... Rio (drug cheat) Ferdinand, John (racist shagger) Terry and Steven (I punched him first in self defense) Gerrard, then being a tax evading manager will give 'Arry an advantage in the selection process.

I reckon the force of public opinion will mean he gets the job. The public are sick of underperforming foreign managers here for the buck, trading off past reputations and no fire in their bellies for the cause. Don't reckon a bit of tax evasion on one payment will hold that public back, particularly once it's all forgotten in the scandals the tabloids inevitably whip up before tournaments, once England get knocked out in the QFs, when John Terry's own court case goes ahead just after the tournament. He might have scuppered his chances of getting a knighthood, but he is blatantly the only man for the job, and we all know that the only difference between him and a lot of the FA themselves are that he got caught.

Think the only thing that will annoy the public is if he gets off scott free. He might have to cut back the Wii ads and other forms of money-recovering activities for a few months, but generally, the British public are a forgiving lot when it comes to cheeky characters.

I certainly hope he is the next England manager- can take a struggling team to the top.
This is all despite what I think of him after he quit Portsmouth <laugh>

I hope he is ruled out of the running based on the fact he is an overrated manager, and despite spending millions wherever he goes, only ever winning one FA Cup.

Capello has acheived massive success, at club level, with discipline and players who abide by it.

Small wonder then, that he is struggling with the bunch of ne'er do wells, that he has to choose from now.

If Redknapp comes on board, it'll be like a pub team on tour.

Need a swathe cut through the England team. No way we're going to win the European Cup, so might as well blood the next generation and plan for the future.

Harry cannot be ignored if proved innocent.

A great 'man manager', he would do very well in my opinion.

I think this is the first time I've not agreed with you Wooperts - while some think he's a 'great man-manager' he's also a destroyer of those who aren't in his clique. Can't stand him personally although he's a decent enough team manager - but as size 12 Fonte has pointed out, he's got 1 FA cup to his name. But, he's about all we've got at the moment.

I know what you are saying 3rd eye, BUT, if the powers that be are looking for an Englishman to replace Fabio, there aren't many to choose from, are there?

Apart from Harry, who else is there ? Alan Pardew/Big Sam/Alan Curbishley/Nigel Adkins ?
