Have you noticed that no one, absolutely no one cheered corners last night?

I've noticed this for weeks now, we haven't scored from a set piece / corner for months (last one I can recall was Ant Gerrard !)

We are absolutely impotent, we offer no threat at all, it's a joke.

Also, I don't think our scoring problem, yes we have one! Is not a striker issue, it's a team issue! We haven't got the right attitude. Too slow to attack, meander forward, no urgency.

I agree, several times against Doncaster in particular, on several occasions, a very promising opportunity presented itself and we ended up overpassing it or over running it (Stewart!) and from being 2 on 3 with the defenders, the ball ends up being passed sideways between Hobbs and Chester on the halfway line.
Far too much sideways passing and not enough positivity in attack.

I seem to remember someone posted that it's over 30 games since we scored in the first phase of a set piece (i.e. cross, header, goal) the only time this season something materialised from a corner was McLean away at posh, but that was second phase

If we had scored just an average amount of goals from set pieces this season,we'd be top now !

THOUGHTS,,,,wellaaaa.....Far to many people live in the past. Whats done is done it cannot be changed. As for the future there are 18 games / 54 points still to play for and be Won. Thats all i am thinking about. The next game. Its far better that way if you do. M'boro and Lesta both lost 2 pts last night. Only Birmingham and Blackpool of the top 7 clubs won this week. Citys position is Not as bad as some would have you beleave. Onwards to Pompey now. :D

As for set plays ? Oli is back so that should improve. But the crosses need to get past the first man first. Just saying like. <ok>

A point that will Torture many on here when they think about it. IF Ricky Lambert was playing for us and had scored the same amount of goals that he has for Saints then Hull City would have one hand on the Championship title already and be looking forward to Stoke City in the Cup. :emoticon-0116-evilg

I might be wrong, but I think Derby away on 22nd February 2011 was the last time we scored direct from a corner. Ant Gerrard header from Koren corener

It is a massive problem because if we scored from a corner in the 2nd minute we'd almost certainly go on to score 2 or 3 more, our problem is getting the first goal so for teams like us any possible route to goal is vitally important, particularly early in games.

Having said that, I did notice a few 'different' routines from corners against Donny. Maybe it's because I was looking for them a bit more than usual but there was a lot more movement going on than usual and a few short corners, action is definitely being taken and without getting a big lad in I don't see what else we could do.
