As well as the inside of your pants? Either you need to invest in some jeans with a stronger fabric or you have radioactive piss.

I reckon Best is just an all round better goal scorer than Shola and more consistant.

I do agree Shola sometimes gets more stick than he deserves and that draws the critisism away from Best but like i say i think Shola does deserve it more.

Shola's first touch 90% of the time ends the attack and loses possession, the amount of time he's ambling around the edge of the box when our wingers put a cross in must be around the 75% mark, our whole defensive game is usually all about pressing the opposition except for Shola 'cos it means running.

That is why I facepalm every time he's in the starting line up. Yes his heart is in the right place and he's a legend around the club but unfortunately the 3 or 4 good things he does in a game are massively outweighed by the negatives.

    Just my opinion of course

Best wasnt at his greatest, however he was playing on the wing methinks and IMO he works better upfront as either the target man or just behind the striker.

Him and Arfa up front would be good.

But Shola tonight was better than him

Bit unfair to compare them in the first half as best was playing left wing (wtf Pards?) but in the second Best did more, though Shola helped out a bit more in defence.

Shola is shocking therefore he gets slated, he has a worse scoring record then Heskey, go figure.

Leon Best trys, he is alot younger and has chipped in with alot more goals compared to Ameobi in the last two seasons, he is not an amazing player but he is getting played out of position, and still scores more goals and contributes more!

I give in. My earlier comment is seemingly not spurious, reading is tough I know. I'm done here.

Yes you do seem to find it hard to read don't you, your point is why does Ameobi get slated and not best, re-read my post again and you will find your answer!

best is far superior to shola in every way

he hasnt been getting much service to be fair and has had a lazy strike partner so has to put more effort in

best is an alright player in my eyes, for the price we paid, a very good signing

Basically this sums it up perfectly, he stiffles mommentum, loses possesion but doesnt even have the workrate to make up for it.

Was focusing on this myth that Best puts in a mammoth amount of effort, hence the opening paragraph. Of course I know Shola is ****, hardly takes a rocket scientist does it? Just intrigues me that when a player gets associated with one thing (in this case work rate) be it good or bad, they automatically get praised or slated on that regardless of each individual performance. Some people's post match ratings on here may as well be posted pre match, because they already have their opinions set in stone.

I think Best gets too much criticism himself, especially those of you saying he has been poor the past few games. He's been playing out of position on the wing and has still created more chances for himself than Shola who has been playing up front. Shola is so lazy it hurts to watch. The lad can't run. He scores one good goal a season and then gets picked week after week despite contributing NOTHING to the team. As most of you will know, I don't normally criticise our players but I've finally lost it after 10 years of watching him stroll about the pitch. He's a Geordie, he's doing what most of us dream of, the least he could do is open his legs and ****ing run once in a while, absolutely sick of him.

I've never been a big fan of Best and have generally thought since we were promoted that he's one division to high for his ability.

As for this 'great shift' ethos? Haven't really seen it very often to be fair.

Jonas puts in a great shift pretty much every match and that's what I look for when this phrase is used. Best just doen't get anywhere near Jonas' efforts.

Still, because Shola is so useless; Best looks the far better player.

    Long live Ba and Cisse.

Best was poor yesterday, can't get round that. But at half time the coverage I watched showed the distance covered by the players of both teams. Best was in the top three (can't remember exactly where), that would support the 'putting in a shift' part, he does run around. You could never say that about Shola and I think this contrast is what people are drawn to highlight.
I can't say that his running around has been been put to good use recently, but if he was in the centre and trying to get behind the centre backs not on the wing might make it more effective. Maybe. Possibly.

But in the end I think we can all agree:
