http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16820314.stm Must admit I know nothing about this guy but I'm liking Brendan's philosophy of buying youth. He's planning for a team that will know each other inside-out and more within a couple of seasons. It all bodes well.
Rodgers realises you have to invest in youth. Our Academy is non-existent. Taylor was a real find so let's hope Obeng is the real deal too. England youth star so he's got talent and may well have been playing at a number of levels below his true potential. Let's hope so. Despite what others have said our Club proves time and again you don't have to go out and spend millions to get results.
I get the impression that Rodger's has been watching this lad for some time, but hadn't broadcast the fact. Clearly,he likes what he has seen, hence the move for him. Let's hope he turns out to be another Taylor. Good links between Swansea and Wrexham, with Alfei going North on loan, following in Joe Allen's footsteps.
Don't know much about Obeng either, but he was a Man City player up until 2009, so must have something about him. I thought he was pretty good in the FA cup the other week, and one thing he definitely has is pace. Does this mean Jazz is now 3rd choice right back? Or second choice left back? Hopefully the competition will be good for him, because he needs as many games as possible to reach his potential. If Obeng is picked ahead of him for the rest of the season, Jazz's development will probably be slower, and long term, may cost him his place in the squad.
I think this is another one for the future. If he kicks on like Taylor did then great, if not it's not going to break the bank waiting for him to get up to speed and letting him adjust to our system.
Looks a decent player, good predigree - FA Youth Cup in the same team as Micah Richards (who IMO is one of the best full backs in the country at the minute) and most importantly he appears to be the right Attitude. What I mean by this is, if what I read was true, is when Man C let him go a couple of Premiership teams and Championship teams came in for him but couldn't promise him first team football....Wrexham could....so to improve his game he went there! That is the type of player you want at a club, not an ageing arse who want to sit back and do very little in order to pick up a stupid wages for doing nothing. Im sure I remember BBC doing a piece on him last season?!?
With regard to the other 'ones for the future' - thought Situ looked the real deal in the reserve game tonight but I wasn't very impressed with Donnelly - a bit out of his depth.
Yeah, can remember reading it off a link on newsnow in work...cant find it now though! I dont think he will start straight away but he will be better cover than what we have to give Rangel a break every now again until he trains with the team a bit more then im sure he will start pushing for a place!
Fine highs , low buys is our motto in the transfer market over the years , barring Sousa's transfer input . Swansea have a lot of clubs looking in the financial & transfer mirror wanting to adopt our methods of success .To know what your money is buying is becoming more critical than the money itself IMO.
Anyone able to get down to see the Reserves lose to Villa last night, apparently Obeng played in his first game....wondered how he looked?
Norfolk ... Highlights on Player. Didn't notice him much, but I thought Situ looked pretty solid and comfortable at the back on the highlights.
