Who do you remember as the best three City players and what did they do to set them apart from the rest?

Simon Walton for his fantastic ball control, majestic passing and versatility.
Tony Warner for generally being the finest keeper I have ever seen in Hull City colours.
Ibrahima Sonko for his fantastic ability in the air, his pace, his awareness and most of all, his balance.

    • Garry Parker for defo, he just had a fantastic passing range and scored spectacular goals. He also went on to have a good top flight career.
    • Probably Richard Jobson for his calmness on the ball and reading of the game.
    • And it hurts me to say it but Fraizer Campbell's signing had more of an impact that any other I remember. We went from an average mid-table team to the most successful in our history.
    • Interestingly none from the Premier League team but Turner would push them closest as not looking out of place on that stage.
    • From the current crop I would genuinley say Rosie is the best right back I have ever seen at the club.
    • Billy Whitehurst is my favourite player ever but I would never say he was the best.

I can't comment on pre-1979, so apologies to Carter, Waggy, Chillo, Viggo etc.

Post-1979, for me the list begins with Windass and goes from there. Marwood and Jobson would complete my trio, just ahead of Tony Norman... and for me James Chester is already pushing his way up there. I also rated Wayne Jacobs very highly indeed.

Tony Norman - One of the most athletic & consistently good keepers in the business at that time
Garry Parker - Awareness & the ability to control midfield and pick out a pass
Brian Marwood - Speaks for itself

I can't believe you put Warner on there ahead of legend that is Junior Lewis.

    in my time

1- Ashbee- not techically the best but his achievements dont need repeating
2- Okocha- didnt play much but on another level, never enjoyed watching a player warm up before.
3- geovanni- inconsistent, but how many other city players have scored goals like arsenal, fulham and tottenham at that level of competition

Neil Franklin - Raich Carter - Ken Wagstaff.

The first 2 for there skill levels and Waggy for his goals. Nobody else comes close especially to Franklin(was hailed as the prince of centre halfs, sadly city got him after his best days) & Carter(nowt else to add to what is known).

nb. I never saw the first 2 but just ask anyone who did.

From the players that ive seen in my days as a City Fan it would have to be : - Ken Wagstaff & Chris Chilton(for there goals) and Gary Parker(almost as good as Hoddle and LeTissier, imo). Parker left city and went onto play for Notts Forest and Aston Villa in the top flight.

From my time watching The Tigers

    Michael Turner, Premiership quality defender.
Ian Ashbee, defied the odds everytime and led by example as captain.
Stuart Elliott, fantastic player at the lower levels for us, if only we had someone banging the goals in like he did now!

The best players we have had, and not necessarily based on their performances for us, that I've seen would be Okocha, Jobbo, and Geo

Sorry boys but absolutely no chance can Okocha or Geo be on this. Top three have to be from Chilton, Wagstaff, Parker, Turner, Elliott, Windass, Barmby, Davidson, Jobson, Viggo, S Pearson. There's probably tonnes I have forgotten but I have been a season ticket holder for 20 years so have seen a few players come and go.

my three would be Ian Ashbee his overall influence on and off the field definitely captain fantastic also Justin Whittle for his 100% attitude and without him and Gary Brabin we could have dropped into the non league brigade and finally Les Mutrie (JJ aside) the most skillful player i have seen at Hull City.

I can not remember the year but we beat the Blades 4-1 at home and Les dribbled his way past four of their players from the corner flag and side stepped the keeper before slotting the ball home, class.

    1. Windass - Carried the team in his 1st spell, and 2nd spell he was just fantastic in helping us stay up & then go up. Best memory: winner at Wembley.
    2. Parker - best midfield playmaker I've seen at City, good scoring record too. Best memory: scoring to beat Leeds 2-0 at Elland Rd.
    3. Jobbo - Classy defender, read the game and brought the ball out and could play. Think Chester but better! Best memory: Left foot volley v Leeds at BP, won 3-1.

Over to my husband for his contribution:

" My 3 are Carter,Franklin and Wagstaff. My Dad would have have picked Maddison, Franklin and Carter. My Grandad would have chosen Maddison, "Dally" Duncan and Carter. That covers 1904 to present day!"
