Nah, not formation porn, but the one we seem to be currently playing. If we play it tonight with Strolla upfront and Best on the left, i think i might cry. The annoying thing is, i could see it working if we used different players: Best up top with Loven on the left for instance, or Jonas on the left HBA in the middle (Raylor/Loven/Ober on the right). Do people think we'll be playing it once we've got our full team back? oh go on then, a bit of formation porn: Krul Simmo - Saylor - Colo - Santon Tiote - Cabaye HBA - Ba - Jonas Cisse with the 3 AM players being interchangeable (creating some nice freeflowing football hopefully)
I knew you couldn't resist formation porn you sweaty twat. Yeah that's what I'd play. Ba falling back into midfield when needed.
I agree, but not necessarily ba; one of the three into midfield, depending on where the opposition has the ball (only one, so Cisse doesnt get isolated). Also when needed, whoever's in the center running into space in the channels and whoever's on the corresponding wing cutting into the middle. I'd love to see something like the fluidity of movement akin to when Man U had Tevez - Rooney - Ronaldo, and they were all interchanging (although obviously it wouldnt be at the same level). Also some of the passing from the back that Swansea do, of course we'd need some more technical players at the back than we currently have (also, i dont know if Krul's up to the task of being a 'sweeper keeper').
well, i wanted the thread to be more about the tactics/players of our current formation so that everyone didnt just post their formation, but a diagram always helps to clarify (couldnt resist posting one)
Yeah I think we will continue to play it (exactly as in the OP), it's a subtle change but probably was made knowing we'd sign Cisse.
Just had a look at Skysports review of tonights game and saw that they had S Ameobi down as injured for the game. I thought great with Shola out maybe we will play one up front with an HBA as an attacking midfielder but then my brain kicked in and reminded me that S Ameobi is actually Sammy. Not that I would want to wish an injury on one of our players but seems that is the only way Pardew is going to start with that formation.
