And before people start having a go saying that no one has been complaining when we win, its because too many times this season koren has got us out of jail with a 25 yarder, we cant rely on him every game. You could tell in todays game that our only idea when we got the ball outside the area was to give it to koren and hope he can score which just isnt a good enough strategy to consistently win games ...................................................................................................................................................................................................... completely agree
right i've had my little grumble for the night, I will shut up now. to sum up. It's just a shame we didn't buy a striker to bolster our promotion push, we are going to get left behind. Not by much, but we just aren't quite going to cut it.
I was not invalidating anything others were saying I was merely putting my own opinion on things. I agree with you that we will maybe slip out of the top six by the end of the season, and that will probably because we havent scored enough goals. But i,ll reiterate again, who is available, without chancing at a good value in this transfer window, who will get us the goals we need to avoid the above scenario?
Facts are, Doncaster have conceded the most goals away from home in the division and before today had failed to keep a clean sheet away from home. We are the first team to fail to score at home against them and can anyone say they are particularly surprised?
What really bugs me is that it's so obvious we aren't going to score. By half time it was almost certain we weren't going to score, you just feel that the longer we go in a game without scoring the harder it becomes. If anyone cared to check my previous posts you'd see I've made several comments over the last few days saying that games exactly like this will be our downfall. If Donny had scored in the first minute tonight we'd definitely have lost 1-0, teams know how weak we are at scoring and can stop us so easily, we simply have no way around it.
It's really not a new striker we need it's a new attitude, the attack meanders forward so letharrgetically it's boards on apathy! You can't blame Nigel Pearson anymore, it's so slow, it allows defences to get back in position and we have no answer! This sits with the current manager! Oh yes, I'm a knee jerker, panicker and not capable of seeing the potential in the mid table outfit! Nick Barmby sort it out!
The thing is, this team is capable of getting promotion, that's what pisses me off so much. We have an amaazing chance to get back into the PL and we're pissing it away with games like today because the attack are so ****ing useless.
As i said, we could be running away with the league this season but everyone seems content to finish in the play off places. There is no point in playing if you arent striving to be the best team.
If we're going to play this formation we need a new striker, Fryatt isn't a lone striker, and I've been saying this since the start of Barmbys reign. As we're not getting a new striker I'll call for a change of formation, give Fryatt a partner and play Koren and McKenna or Oli when fit in the center, with Stewart and Brady on the wings. That's a team that gets the best out of our players.
Nicky needs to mix things up a bit, I don't agree that because of a lack of strikers we will fall short, the trick is to get the ones we have doing enough which they patently aren't at the moment. We had enough chances to win the game. I wouldn't have started Fryatt and think Barmby missed a trick by not benching him, I think he must have thought that with the game off v Crawley he would be buzzing again.
It is ridiculous. He should be in the staring 11 IMO, just because our "strikers" have scored 1 goal between them in 10 games!
