Because they seem to be signing exactly the kind of players we need. First they sign Roberts, now Connolly from QPR. Connolly being a central defender who's good in the air, and who's played in both full back positions for them at this level. He won't be costing much either, although he'll be on PL wages QPR have too many players for their 25 man squad (they had to leave 4 or 5 players out at the end of August) and with more signings coming in they'll be happy just to get some of them even partially off the wage bill. (They should try signing younger players as well)
Why would Connolly drop a division to go to a club where he's going to be cover only? It'd be a waste of his time.
Yeah, I suppose someone in the player buying department could have got the upcoming opposition analysis report and the squad analysis report mixed up.
Because dropping a division to be on a subs bench is better than sitting in the stands for a PL team knowing that even if 10 defenders get injured he won't be able to play again this season? And he's joined Reading, why do they need him to play when they've only conceded two goals more than us this season? (Those two goals conceded, would they be the two we scored against them where they couldn't return the favour?)
