Martin Rowlands is set to leave QPR by mutual consent. An agreement has been reached with the midfielder, who moved to Loftus Road from Brentford in 2003. Rowlands, 32, made over 200 appearances for the Râs, was a key player in their promotion from the third tier in 2004 and a stand-out performer in the Championship. But he been blighted by injury problems, and cruciate damage effectively ended his Rangers career â just as he was establishing himself in the Republic of Ireland side. His last appearance for the club came in this seasonâs Carling Cup defeat against Rochdale. Since then he has had a spell on loan at Wycombe.
Rowley, QPR legend! Captain amazing, full of guts and determination. Always a warm place for Rowley in every QPR fan's memory and always a warm welcome at LR I would imagine. Wish him nothing but good.
Good luck and god bless. I hope rowly moves into coaching and management, has a lot to offer the game imo.
Never forget his goal against Wolves in an evening match, I think 3 seasons ago, to give us a 1-0 win A great servant to the club - all the best to him
Do you know what you're taking about? The bloke's been a loyal servant to the club. I was at the game at Pride Park when he did his leg just after being called up for International duty, a real shame. Your comment does you no credit sir
Been a great servant to the club, wish him all the best. Legend.. Anybody who doesn't think so, obviously hasn't been following this club for very long or has a short memory.
I remember him stopping the players from applauding fans at FT, being a dick to people who paid lots of money at the POTY do and arguing with fans during a game. Now Lee Cook would get my thanks but not him.
I wish him all the best and hope he gets a club, The goal that sicks out best it the one against Brighton where we won the game 2-1, I also remember ****tu kicking lumps out of neon light in the same game.
I know its normal for players with 10 years service to get a testimonial, and that Rowly has done 8 1/2 years. In that time we have had highs and lows, and I just wonder whether Rowly deserves a testimonial as he has been (as mentioned by many that have watched the club) been a real loyal servant. Would be a fantastic opportunity to say goodbye and thanks to one of our favourite sons. Thoughts
Nice idea, but aren't testimonials usually for charity nowadays - no longer a pension supplement/golden handshake, given the wages that even Championship players are on. Deserves some recognition though, but will probably get overlooked in all the excitement.....
Martin Rowlands has been one of the most important players in the last 10 years at this club. He helped drag us back up to the Championship and was a regular in that division before his debilitating injury. He always gave 100% and wore the shirt with pride. Like many on here I thank him for what he has done and wish him every success in the future. Flyer, jog on.
