HUll city have more strikers on their books now than they've had at any one time in their history, but not one of them is good enough to get the goals we need to be promoted.
i think Barmby is putting a lot of faith in fryatt coming good again...i hope he does because i like him but feel he may look back in may and regret it
Who needs strikers when we have Koren, just keep calm and pass to him! I think we can do OK even if the men up top are firing blanks, so long as the team plays well thats the main thing,we're doing fine so far with what we have.
Maybe thats the plan, move koren up front and play a 5 man midfield around him, keep him more central and closer to goal and he might just put away some of the chances that we create, mannone rosie hobbs chester dawson brady evans mckenna oli stewart koren.
Got to agree with the sentiment Ive got us down as finishing 8th, that said this season is going to be the closest ever, so many strong teams a result either way will have a big impact on finishing positions. Reading have been smart, Jason Roberts will influence their season!
Did anybody believe we would be going up at the beginning of the season anyway? When i saw we'd signed Adebola in the summer i thought we'd be midtable/ top half at best. Anyway all is not lost just yet. Stop getting carried away.
In our promotion season Campbell got 15 and Windass 11. Fryatt and Koren have 8 each already. So to say none of our forward are good enough is absolutely rubbish. The problem is elsewhere. That season Folan got 8, Garcia 5, Marney 6, Turner 5 and Pederson 4. This season McLean has got 4 and Brady 2. It's obvious where the biggest difference is.
Clearly the standard ofthe Championship has improved massively if Folan and Marney bagged 14 between them, the teams from that season who conceded those 14 should be bloody ashamed of themselves
Folan was a cracking sub that season. He'd come off the bench and seal games against tiring defences. I can't remember many of their goals though. Marney's penalty at Barnsley and his cracker in the 5-0 win over Southampton stand out. Folan's clincher at Leicester and last minutes winner at home to Coventry are the ones I remember from him. Oh, and the header that sealed the play-off win of course.
"No promotion this time around" you say? Is that fact? Have you somehow managed to fast forward to May and know the outcome of every game? What a lot of people are forgetting is that just because the transfer window shuts today, the loan window is open until March. We have options on the loan front should the management team feel we need to take them up, something they currently don't think is needed. Sitting 6th in league (on the same points as 4/5th and with a game in hand over 5th) and in a better position than the season we went up, I can't quite believe how negative some of our fans are.
Well, where do we go from here? Stikers where were they? Lets face it its not on this time around I am very sorry to say.
never mind strikers, koren needs a good look at himself, plan a, b and c revolves around him getting us out the **** with a 25 yarder, and he let us down.
the funny thing is.. this is true that brace of wins in december was koren scoring.. our strike force is pathetic our defence is sorted, midfield pretty much is but the **** strike force is stopping us getting promotion
