I really don't understand Arsene Wenger's logic sometimes. If Tottenham can get rid of players like Crouch, Palacios, Hutton, Bentley, Jenas and now Corluka either by loan or sold them to other clubs, why can't Wenger get rid of Almunia, Vela, Denilson and Squillaci permanently to alleviate the wage bill? Seems to be something wrong at the club.
Because amigo, nobody wants them. Wenger bought badly so now we are saddled with them. But hey don't fret my friend, we are told that despite everything the great man keeps us in contention...... for a fourth place Hmmnn.... many things it seems to me.
Most of these are not bad players. Especially, Diaby who had his career ruined by a thug. Denilson did a job for us and did help us sustain a top four place when the going was tough. Vela had great talent. He was the top goal scorer in a youth world cup and he has showed us in patches why he was so sought after when he was a kid. Alumina was brought as a number two and even he had solid seasons and did not cost much. Squillaci was in the Sevilla first team and was in a world cup squad. For a squad player costing around £5 Million it did not seem like bad business at the time. But English football does not take prisons and Squillaci found that out.
Squillaci can't be shifted because his wages are so high. He was brought in to be first choice alongside Vermaelen, no-one realised how naf he was so he's on top dollar. Almunia was given a big pay rise when moved up to first choice, so he also is on top dollar. Denilson & Bendy are both rumoured on 50k+. Chamakh will be on good money because he was signed on a free. Shifting players on that much money is nigh on impossible if they don't want to go.
