I feel we have missed an excellent opportunity to pick up 2 or 3 experienced players that would make the difference between us kicking us on and going for the top 2 or missing out on the play offs, i honestly feel our lack of goals from our forwards will cost us dearly in the run in, we may win enough matches to keep us in and around the play off places but our goal difference will be our undoing. maybe its inexperience on NBs part in buying players or willing to accept that what we have, isnt as good as he believes, i wish we had gone for Sharp as i think he would have come, he may have been waiting for us to make our move and got tired of waiting, we,ll never whether thats the case but i,d like to have seen us at least try and get him,
Goal difference will not be our undoing. In the unlikely event it comes down to goal difference, it'll be the stupid games like West Ham and Blackpool that are our undoing. As for Sharp I am willing to accept that NB doesn't fancy certain players, that's fine, we are in no position to pretend we know more about the lad than NB does. However it does annoy me that we aren't signing anyone, and that on top of that, players like Simpson who've not played for us much aren't being given a chance either, so basically we aren't going to change anything from the team that physically cannot score when going a goal down, and when we dominate games we still lose because our strikers waste chances. Whatever way you look at it it doesn't make sense.
Am pleased that we got Mannone back but feel that we could have picked up another defender, midfielder and striker, I would have liked to see us be a little more ambitious and have gone for Kilgallon, Andrews and Sharp to fill those 3 roles, I know many feel Kilgallon may not be the answer but he is a decent player at this level and an affordable option, Keith Andrews would be a useful aquisition and has been in good goal scoring form this season, which would take some pressure off Robert Koren to be the midfielder scoring the goals, Maybe David Norris may be available now that Pompey are struggling financially again, Billy Sharp, Vaz Te, or Tubbs may have been worth the gamble. we all have players we would like to see at City, these are just my choices that i feel could add strength in depth to what we already hae.
David Norris would be an addition i'd like to see us make, and although Vaz Te didn't impress in his loan spell here he's been in good form with Barnsley.
Whilst i agree you're not alone in thinking we need another few players in, mainly strikers, but how do you know Barmby hasn't tred to do any business in this window and tried to bring someone else in, but has got knocked back in the process. Everyone wants an inform striker, who scores 15-20 a season, but there can't be that many around.
People can have their opinion and I'm as frustrated as some that we haven't got Hamill and a defender. However, everyone needs to remember that there are no guarantees. So even if we end up 7th or 8th, there's nothing to say that bringing in a few players no would've meant things working out any different. NB doesn't think the right players are available so we have to trust him. He knows a lot more than we do. For instance, how many people slagged McKenna off in the summer and how many would much rather have spent a million quid on Jon Greening? What sort of season are those two having? I read posts from people who wanted Ismael Miller. What sort of season is he having? We seriously need to forget signings and support the team. they've done great so far, they have so much camaraderie and passion for Hull City. They'll all fight for everything. I can honestly look around the business other clubs have done in this window and say, hand on heart, there are only two players I would've wanted here. Vokes and Sharp. Most other transfers are unknowns or the same old mercenaries. I'd rather back our young squad than have any of them.
He was having a good season until Cotterill arrived and dropped him. Had 4 goals in 12 games or less for Forest. Didn't score in the first couple of games for Cotterill so he got dropped and has only played a game a month since. It's quite hard to get back in the Forest team though, they've got Blackstock, Derbyshire, Findlay, Harewood, McGoldrick, and Tudgay all competing with Miller for a place in the team.
And if it all goes tits up for Sharpe at Southampton then can we stop the whinging. It's all ifs and buts, i know.
Just in case anyone was still harbouring any hopes of a surprise last minute signing... mattdeanbbc Matt Dean Adam Pearson on the possibility of any transfer movement at #hcafc: "nothing happening, period."
