Good evening fellow Blues and Swans <ok>.

Created this thread to get the juices going before tomorrows clash between us and a bit of info gathered from BBC.

I think most Chelsea boys will agree that this will not be as easy as when we met at the Bridge way back in September given both of our sides' recent form, this is one we are rather sceptical about. Hopefully we can keep 11 men on the field this time!

    Team News:

Disappointing to see Ramires and Lampard both out, hopefully this will force AVB to give the tried 4-2-3-1 a go, however, I expect to see something like this:

Let's hope for the 3 points (and confidence boost in time for Sunday) we so desperately need!

    KTBFFH, good luck Swans <ok>.

I hope not Ginge but you may be right, we need a leader out there, they'll all look lost without one of JT, Lamps or Drogs!

I'd rather save our lad for Sunday though!

    Mata?! Gotta be joking me!

It'd be either Cech or Cole!

Matas AVBs favourite, AVB assigned him as the penalty taker, so wouldn't put it past him to make him captain in terry and lampards absence. I do assume it will be Cech though as he use to be 3rd choice captain

Being a penalty taker is completely different from being the captain mate <laugh>.

Thanks for a great thread Drogs <ok>

I fancy us for a draw tomorrow, with JT being injured i think it will give us that extra bit of confidence to have a go and try and get something, Chelsea s defense is looking vulnerable IMO, i dont rate Cahill,Luiz or bosingwa so i think we may get somejoy out of these guys.

Normally im worried about us when we play the big teams but for some strange reason im not as worried about this one, which kind of worries me!!..<laugh>w

If we play 100% to our ability and Chelsea play beneath 80% of theirs then we will take something from the game.

    1-1 Draw

    2-1 win for swans :)

    Cheers Norway <ok>

I'll go for a score draw of 1-1, you are wrong about our defence by the way :) since the big shock Villa gave us we've tightened up! Luiz has been arguably our best player since the Valencia game and well you could be right about Bosingwa but I haven't seen Cahill in a blue jersey yet so I'll give my opinion on him when I do!

Well you would know more about your boys in Blue than me Drogs, the times ive seen side show bob(luiz ) i havent been impressed, positionally he looks ill disiplined and seems to want to go forward too much for my liking.

Cahill hasnt been playing that well for Bolton this season, remains to be seen if he is a big time player.

Swans really need somwthing from this game though Drogs, and i think keeping our home form going will be key to us being able to stay up.
a bonus game if we get anything but its going to be tight i reckon.

How many Chelsea fans coming down to swansea guys??

At home i'd be feeling confident but away i'm nervous and hope we can get the win, Swansea are quality especially at home though, beat arsenal and should of got something from the united game. We'll see tomorrow tho, and to the Swans boys you gotta keep us updated on Joshs progress lol

Dont be mistaken this is a game we are not expected to win,Chelsea are one of the big 4 in the prem and have top players all over the park,so it will be extremly hard for us, if we start well then it could be a very intresting game.

Josh? well its early days for him here, trouble for him is that we have 2 players like Leon Britton and Joe Allen who are going to be very difficult to move from the team, we also have gylfi sugdusson (spl) who looks the buisness as an attacking midfielder, from what limited minutes ive seen he (josh) looks comfortable and neat on the ball, he fits into our style of play seemlessly without standing out, which i guess is credit to him, early days for Josh though :)

Well I don't blame you for your opinion of him tbh! I agree with you on his positional play, gives Terry a heart attack sometimes! He's improved on his discipline though and that was the most worrying for me!

Yeah you're right but I think this season has been difficult for Bolton and it will have affected him but still £7m not too bad! He looked ok with Terry for England so we'll have to see.

Won't be attending this one, saving up for the biggun next Sunday!

True enough Drogs, your front 3 more than makes up for any question marks at the back anyway!! Torres ??? i thought he has played quite well in some of the games ive seen, its just not going for him by the looks of it, normally if anyone has a duck to break it usually gets broken against us!!

should be a good game with football being the winner <ok>

Cheers for giving me a week off from doing match threads!

Right, I'm going to put my helmet on and come out and say I haven't been impressed by Chelsea this season. Here's my thinking. I've been talking to a few mates recently about how the Swans' success has been possible because they were able to learn their new "continental" style in the lower leagues, where it is more forgiving. Because of the way we play, and the level of players we have in the squad, if one player drifts out of position when we are pressing for possession, we're knackered and in the PL we'll concede a goal pretty much every time. Luckily, we had a chance to practice for a good few years in the Championship, and League One before that where if we made a mistake, it wasn't necessarily punished so quickly! As a result, the players have been able to develop a winning mentality, at home anyway, and draw confidence from playing the way they play.

I think what Villas-Boas has tried to do is do what required 5 or 6 years work behind the scenes at Swansea, and I'm not sure if it's working. You have a squad full of fantastic players, and the signing of Mata was one of the best bits of business over the summer, but the performance levels haven't been there so far for what is expected from Chelsea now, and I'm sure fans are aware of that. That said, you have been good in Europe, and you occupy a CL place, so it can't be that bad! I just think AVB has possibly been a bit naive perhaps in thinking he can change things rapidly while maintaining a performance level, which is so hard to do.

Should be a good game in all fairness though. I'm working in a sodding call centre about a stones throw from the ground... hopefully I can wangle an early finish, but if not I'll likely miss the entire thing! Gutted.

Edit:I've also just seen you're 3 points better off than at this stage last season, so AVB is doing something right!

Agree with all of that there pal <ok> Well said. Well except the bit about you working, what's that about?! I'd sick it off mate :)

Oh and that last bit, yeah, a lot of rivals appear to forget that. Only reason we look bad on the table is because the Spuds have had their good run of form and City are a lot better than last year! If we can conclude one more bit of business by this time tomorrow I'll be a happy man :)
