Ok, I've totally stolen this idea from the F1Fanatic website but thought it was worth opening it up to the forum. What are you most looking forward to in 2012? Having written off 2012 and 2013 to Messers Newey, Horner and Vettel, what I'm most looking forward to in 2012 is seeing some great scraps in the midfield. Mercedes, Lotus, Force India, Caterham, Sauber, Torro Rosso, Williams could all very easily be close together in performance and I think we could see some real good tussles. Incidentally, for those wanting to read the original article, here it is.
Looking forwards to a closer battle between Red Bull, Ferrari and Mclaren (which I think there will be) and also the inter team battles. Also looking forwards to the Toro Rosso and Force India team mate battles, seeing Kimi back, and seeing what Senna will do.
Teammate battles I love a good battle between teammates and I expect some close fights this year. The one I'm most looking forward to is Di Resta vs Hulkenburg, as that can have a big effect on one of their careers and it will be a good test for both drivers. I'm also looking forward to Grosjean vs Raikkonen - Grosjean was overlooked in 2009 but will surely come back stronger, while Kimi has the talent but may struggle to adapt. I'd also love to see a driver surprise everyone by beating (or getting beaten by) their teammate. Imagine a rookie taking down an established driver or Massa beating Alonso or Trulli burying Kovalainen. Ferrari 2013 driver line-up This is going to be a huge talking point this year. No doubt this will speculated about for months and I don't think we'll hear an announcement until September. We know that Kubica is testing with Ferrari in June so we won't hear an announcement before then. Like Alonso's move to Ferrari, this move has the potential to really shake things up with all sorts of driver movements. Rory Byrne vs Adrian Newey Newey won't be the only one with genius designs this year. It's easy to expect another year or two of Vettel domination but Newey has been beaten before and will be beaten again.
If we write off the battle at the front, then: 1) Podium scraps. Reckon this will be the first year for a while when we will have a number of teams scrapping over the occasional podium - Mercedes, Lotus, Sauber et al. 2) What Williams can do. With a young (ish) driver line-up, and a rebooted team structure, could be a dark horse. 3) What Caterham can do. Really hope they succeed this time around. 4) Potential major changes in the driver line-ups for next year. Will Ferrari keep Massa? Will Schumacher admit his comeback was a mistake and retire gracefully? Will one of the midfield's unsung heroes be rewarded?
Ok, I've totally stolen this idea from Westcoastboogaloo at the top of the page but thought it was worth opening it up to the forum. What are you most looking forward to in 2012? Personally speaking I'm not looking forward to the Adrian Newey domination I am looking forward to -Seeing If Lewis Hamilton will become a man as his father says and can regain his mostly error free form of 2007 mixed with his unmatchable speed. Regaining the upper hand at McLaren and extracting 100% of the cars potential again over the course of the season. -Seeing if Raikkonen is fully motivated and back at his McLaren best and if he is he is going to be brilliant to watch. -Hopefully seeing Rosberg beat Shumacher again. -The hardest teammate battle to predict of all: Di Resta Vs Hulkenburg -Hopefully seeing Kovalainen continue to flourish at Caterham and seeing as they will have KERS this year and EBD's are banned they should make big gains and score a point or 2. -Sky announcing shock bankruptancy and F1 going back to the BBC permanantly - Seeing if De La Rosa can save HRT
I'm looking forward to the McLaren boys running away with the title But more seriously all I want is two or more drivers to be in it come the last race.
Looking forward to: Button doing well again at Mclaren. Alonso out-performing the Ferrari. Schumacher finally showing his true potential. Mercedes catching the front-runners. Raikkonen back on the grid. FI doing well. Caterham and Heikki catching the mid-field teams.
Generally, I'd like to see more variety in the results. I'm not just thinking of Red Bull/Vettel domination but the lock-out at the top that the big three teams have had on the big points in recent seasons. I do enjoy watching the midfield drivers fighting for points but I want to see them fighting for bigger points and upsetting the staid status quo we've had lately. Similarly, I'd also like to see the strugglers step up, especially Caterham and Williams. I want to see Heikki back scoring points and Bruno proving the doubters wrong. I also want to see Petrov (or anyone hungry) in Trulli's seat. And finally, of course, I'd like so see the Sky falling, failing, whatever... Sat. dishes are SO last century!
Hopefully Schumacher winning one race - He Deserves it. I don't think Red Bull will run away with the title. My Money's on alonso.
I too am looking forward to the Hulkenberg v Di Resta battle that is essentially over a 2013 Mercedes seat. Oh, and Ben Edwards' enthusiastic commentary on the Beeb.
definately hulkenberg getting demolished by di resta so that the pole position from brazil can be seen as wet weather set up and not racing talent, lets face it, he's a preety average driver
16th March, thats what I'm looking forward to! Whether its $ky or BBC, I just can't wait for the new season
Looking Forward to: The return of the season obviously ! More than one title contender.... American race return Hulkenburg back racing again 3 ''new'' teams moving towards the midfeild
I'm looking forward to Valencia being dropped from the calendar for the 2013 season. Also looking forward to Austin if it actually gets finished. If things go according to plan, I hope to be there. If anything, I'm hoping we have a season like 2010. That would make me a happy camper. I'm not sure I could take a season dominated in the way of 2011. There were some good races, but the title challenge was about as exciting as a carrot with sparkler stuck in it.
15 April: China 13 May: Spain 27 May: Monaco 24 June: Europe 8 July: Britain 2 September: Belgium 23 September: Singapore 14 October: Korea 4 November: Abu Dhabi 25 November: Brazil As those are the races that are actually happening. I will recognise the World Champion as the driver who scores the most points at those races.
Personally, I'm hoping it's the other way around and Hulk is the victor, though at this stage I'm not particularly confident of it. I wouldn't say Nico's pretty average, he's shown real potential IMO, but this could be a ****-or-get-off-the-pot year for him as Mallya showed he can be pretty ruthless when he dropped Sutil for Hulk. Anyway, Nico didn't deserve to be dropped last year and deserves his chance now. TBH, I find di Resta irritating sometimes and the BBC's constant fawning over him more so. Is he really that good or is it just that we're continually told that he is? I don't know.
Even if it was a fluke, would you have expected him to do better than get pole position by over a second?
