Or should that be, at its peak.............Mid-90's.

This was before the 'top 4', before the 'holding midfielder', before the 'lets not lose' mentality, before the teams chasing the title would play negative tactics away at their rivals, before Man U won the treble and became an untouchable powerhouse on every level, before money dominated everything, before Chelsea & Man City billions, before FIFA f*cked it up.

1995-97 saw Blackburn win the league...Cantona's karate kick...Newcastle's entertainers dominate the league...Keegan rant at Fergie's 'mind games'...Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle (twice)...Newcastle 5-0 Man Utd (never seen before) then Southampton 6-3 Man Utd (in the very next game, unbelievable)...Liverpool Spice Boys in them white suits...Players like Juninho, Ravenelli and Kinkladze being relegated?!..and of course Euro 96.

Football, specifically in England, has never reached these heights since. Wenger and Mourinho have been a credit to the league since those days, but I cant say I really care.

Football seemed a specialist sport that only genuine football lovers talked about...now every tom, dick and harry has an opinion on Chelsea's high line, Wenger's transfer policy or why Paul Scholes is a 'ledge'....shut the f*ck up toff boy and go watch tennis like you used to.

    Random rant over.

    :D

P.S I've decided you will never see myself in this place ever again after the transfer window slams shut. I'm sure most of you are glad. This place has turned mind-numbing now. Which is a shame cause it used to be good and strangely addictive. I even enjoyed ranting with people, but even that is horsesh*t because nobody seems to stick to the issue or the OP and then start going all snide and trying to be funny. It's not funny, it's boring.

    Poor not606, poor.

I know what you mean. If it wasn't for the Ebar and the lads on there I think I'd be gone by now.

    All the best Bano.

Not sure how you can be pissed at Chelsea and Man City spending a fortune to be top dogs and then post how you loved the 94/95 season because Blackburn won it.

They essentially did the exact same.

Footballs peak was the mid 90s, when only football specialists had an opinion? **** me, between Fantasy Football, TFI Friday, Britpop and everything else there were never nore casual fans than the mid 90s. Tony Blair was doing keepie ups for ****s sake.

Blackburn broke the British transfer record to sign Chris Sutton from Norwich. He cost £5 million 1994

A certain Alan Shearer cost £3.3 million in 1992. That was the most expensive British transfer record then.

Personally, I believe football was at it's peak in the 1970's not 1990's.

I am talking football and not specifically NUFC or the improved "experience" resulting from Sky's money.

In the 1970's every team had a "footballer" who could make somethimg happen out of nothing. Also you were allowed to tackle and a lot of footballers as opposed to a few could actually tackle properly and "hard".

Maybe a sign I'm getting old as I'm sure my father would tell me that football was at it's best in the 1950's!!!

Not yet I think. It would appear that those who do leave just stop posting but don't act like drama queen's and start threads about it. Probably an attention thing much like the others who have done this.

Also if it's so mind numbing, why wait until the transfer window closes? Why not just go now!!!!

    Please.

So football isn't good anymore because people have opinions on it? Deary me Bano, you can't have a go at opinions, you want Santon in CM!
