Something not related to the non-existent tranfer gossip or our recent non-existant performances, for a change.

On bbc three 9pm tonight there is a documentary by Julin's niece about her uncle and gay footballers in general. This article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16722196 has an interview with Barton on the subject.

As per his recent twitter nonsense he can be a bit of a loudmouth but fair play to him for confronting this issue. A good interview I think, just thought people may not have seen it.

Also, I nearly posted this thread with John Fashanu in the subject, someone quite different.

Barton is intelligent and has a deep side, he just hasnt fully embraced it.

Hes a pseudo-intellectual for now, maybe that will change as he develops.

Joey Barton is living, breathing proof of the difference between being intelligent and being clever. He is certainly the former, definitely not the latter!

Perhaps a startling revelation that Barton enjoys pipe to pipe bushmen style antics.

    Very pithy and quite true.

question: if Cattermole came out as gay, would you join in any homophobic chants towards him or be disgusted at those that did?

Gay, straight, religious, athiest, white, black or blue. It makes no difference to me.

I judge people on how they act so I'd judge those that did join in homophobic chants as twats.

Agree with that. People need to wake up and realise that it's not 'okay' to be a backwards arsehole just because you're at a football ground.

i dont want to cause offence but i think a large portion of our fans would join in/instigate it.

Disgusted at those that did. Homosexuality should make no difference to how someone is viewed.

Probably it shouldn't, but as Cattermole is a twat anyway, I'd probably turn a blind ear to it.

I wouldn't condone them being homophobic, chanting about how much of a twat he is, well that's a different matter.

    I'd like to think I wouldn't.

    These.

Seems daft to me to chant about the one thing about him I don't give a **** about. With so many reasons to hate him & chant about him that are actually valid, why would you chant about something like that?

Unfortunately I think there would be a vocal minority of fans at most clubs doing this. Around grounds you do hear many shouts of things like 'Puff'being used as insults, its very sad.
