No one has even been banned from this board unfairly or without prior warning to calm down. Every single person who was banned was warned of what will happen if they carry on and they continued Sometimes as mod you have to do what you think is best for all the board members and not just your opinion.
I wholly agree with the sentiment in your last sentence - the challenge is around whether it is for the 'good of the board' and not just a single or a very narrow and selective group opinion - for instance, there is a comment about potentially banning Prehistoric Bob on this thread if he "carries on" - I can't see anything on the thread that would warrant banning? - so what does the 'carrying on' really mean? ... banning someone because they don't agree with our point of view? - if that is where this is heading then the whole concept of ntot606 is doomed - it is those 'differences' of opinion, allied to the tribalistic nature of football support, hat make the forum interesting - and that is why we need to be very careful and thoroughly and dispassiontely consider banning before we threaten it - otherwise we just appear petty and rather like the kid at school who threatens to take his ball home if the playtime footie is not going his way.
FF - welcome and congrats on being a mod - rather u than me - which is why I have never criticised a mod from any board. Tough job to get it right. The problem we had a few weeks ago was that EVERY thread was being hijacked by contributors from other boards, and it was farcical - more like a kiddies playground than a thread to discuss football issues for OUR team. If you want to encourage that people come on to our threads for this 'banter' then i for one will disappear to another forum. It was a ****ing joke - where mature and sensible people dont belong. If that is what you want FF then I will join Stourbridge and JF and do one. Careful of what you wish for, cos to go back to a few weeks ago, the banter becomes nasty, personal and childish.
Barwell, far be it for me to interfere on here but the nonsense we've all suffered is hopefully a thing of the past. Nobody can promise there won't be the odd moments, but a line has now been drawn and the appointment of FF is a significant part of that. Hopefully with a bit of understanding between the mods on each board we can develop the banter and discussion and start weeding out the silliness. Be patient and if people can flag wummers to the mods instead of biting, the mods can deal with it quietly in the background.
I totally agree with you barwell. When the Hull fans all over our board like a tramp on chips then its pretty pointless being on here. Dont even get me started on theie mods, they are the biggest problem we have. I have had enough of trying to deal with them and if OLM want to milk it then he can feel free. If Dutch mountain horse wants to paint FF out as the a saviour then he can. The problem is they are all too happy to point fingers and not realise its them causing the problems. I would quite happily never post on the Hull board again and i think many other Leicester posters feel the same. But i dont think many of the Hull fans could say the same. DMD has tunnel vision where nothing it his fault and OLM cries at the first thing he doesnt like. One minute he can go from being civilised into a keyboard warrior. He told AKCJ's he had posted all his personal details on here so i posted OLM first name. They all attack AKCJ's everytime they come on here and say he is the problem. Well he has been banned for a very long time from the Hull board so he cant be the problem as he was removed. Viking Erik was a big problem on here, he was removed and you dont see me now going onto the Hull board attacking him and blaming him for everything. In and ideal world no one would be banned but if its best for the sake of the forum it needs to happen. The banter thread was set up for everyone gets the best of both worlds but even then the Hull fans are struggling to stick to that at times. Alot of members have had enough and like Barwell said he may leave if it carries on and if we lose any more members then there is no point of this board. Because there wont be many left. So its alright in saying lets get free speach and all this FF but they has to be a line drawn somewhere. I have said before if any one has a problem with how i have moderated this board then they can PM me and if the majority of the board want me to step down i will. I couldnt care less if the what the Hull fans think about me or anyone else on this board. But we need to keep this as a football forum and not a battle ground and if a few wums have to be booted out along the way so be it
Proud, I'm really not trying to drag this on but if you feel you've still got Hull wums on here let us know and we'll have a word and check they're not imposters as some have been. What I do with the leicester ones (that DO still try on ours even this weekend) is simply delete their nonsense before it takes hold.
What Leicester fans are on your board? As i have said i have had enough of this now, were not rival clubs in any sense except divisional so why all the hatred? This goes for both boards, Any one can post on any thread but it has to be civilised dont take bait and argue with people. The banter thread is a free for all where pretty much anything can be said within reason
There are a number of Leicester fans who post and are more than welcome. There are one or two wums now, (and they seem to share common ISP's with some who are now banned under various names) but as I posted previously, I simply delete them as soon as I see them.
Without checking I can't recall exactly, WalshNo5 is one. But it's not important. They're dwindling now because they're starved of attention, it's time to move on. Let me know by PM anyone from our board who's bothering you on here and I'll have a word. Making a fuss will simply resurrect it all. As well meaning as my intentions are, I can see me being on this thread isn't helping at the moment so I'll let it lay.
Barwell - do you seriously want a board where only our fans can post? Have you ever posted on another team's board? - it's somewhat ironic that our posters who have been banned from other board's complain vehemently for the right of 'free speech' and we launch campaigns to stop them leaving whilst at the same time moaning about how unfair it is that people post on our boards. I know that I've posted on other boards whilst I don't think I've ever gone on to blatantly upset anyone, I haven't minded pointing out the errors of their ways! - now that's what I would term 'banter' - and for me that is part of what makes a forum interesting. i certainly don't want people to 'see it my way' - I'd encourage everyone to be themselves , go their own way, and get the most enjoyment possible - that is what this thing is - a social network for football supporters. What's more it should be fun - we'll have many differences to supporters of other teams but the one thing we have in common is supporting a footballl team. I don't mind people taking the mickey - especially if it is done with some wit. However, some things are not acceptable - not differences of opinion on footballing matters - but irrelevant personal attacks without due cause need nippig in the bud - and that's where I see the role of a moderator.
We need to keep this as a football forum and not a battleground between Hull and Leicester. If Hull fans want to come on and talk football i have said many of time they are more then welcome. But i have had enough of keyboard warriors
Right I haven't posted for a couple of weeks and don't intend to recommence now - But I feel the need to support Barwells and Prouds points - I stopped posting for exactly the reason Barwell lists in his excellent post - I even had a Hull fan telling me he was going to have sex with my much missed and loved late mother! And I still read posts where the main culprits list me as a cause of the problem - Yes I've reacted to their unacceptable posts some time ago but have a relatively decent recent history - The trouble with Hull fans is they want to give out grief but go mental when anyone reacts
What i find amusing is that there main problem is with the opinion from our fans (which appears to be 100% of our fans in thier eyes) pre-season that we would buy the league etc If it was true (and i know most LCFC fans know how tough the CCC is) then simply being the bigger man and ignoring it would suffice... If pushed to provide names of those who cause the biggest problems they name AKCJ, I used to be John Fallen and Danger Fox. AKCJ was banned aaaages ago - so his influence on there board appears to be in some ghost form (although i have heard he created a second account...but that lasted seconds), I used to be John Fallen was banned a while back and has not returned back to our forums since and Danger Fox (not sure if he's banned) but he hasnt posted on our forums for weeks also. How can the cause of our problems be those who dont post on any forum? I have failed to gain any meaningful chat with many of the Hull lot and was happy with the supermods decision to keep us seperated and have the banter thread (used largely by the Hull lot). And yes i can certainly see how it would be pathetic to keep us apart but the reality is that nothing but WUMing and Trolling occurs - it is proven fact. We have already started chatting with the Canaries and whilst one poster has pushed the envelope, there MOD's have clamped down already - i can expect some great chat up until the game. Which reminds me 'I Used To Be John Fallen...Where are you? Where are you?'
Hull fans posts (or any other fans) that go off topic and start to cause offence will be PM'd as a warning. If they continue to post the same off topic nonsense then they will find themselves banned. I also ask Leicester fans not to wind them up either. Take the moral high ground and they will soon get bored.
Put it this way, look at the banter we had with the Southampton fans. They wasnt all look at us top of the league and when we won you wasnt going on like we won the world cup with them. We had some decent banter and actually talked about football without any keyboard warriors involved. Hull feel very insecure towards us so they try and attack us. We have very rarely had football conversations with them. For some reason they hate us and i dont know why. From no one try not to rise to the Hull fans if they are abusive or starting trouble. If they are talking football by all means have a discussion with them but if not ignore them. I have said before aswell they are using AKCJs as a cheap reason for what they are doing. He was banned a very long time ago and all the heat from that died down. They for some reason was offended we bid for Stewart and dont like it we took Nigel back
AKCJ - couldn't agree more with the sentiment - just a shame you couln't have ended it without the last sentence.
It's true though. Unfortunately for people like 'look_back_in_amber' who were posting incessant ****e on here they just got bored because nobody reacted. The people who look to wind others up get bored with no reacton and if we as a unit can ignore them then it'll die down. As moderators of this board our job becomes harder if the Leicester fans 'bite' the wum's 'hook' because it invites more of them to do the same and we'll find ourselves back to square one. Continue as we are on this and their board and hopefully we'll not have to worry about threads along the lines of 'haha you lost'.
Proud - a slight rose tint to your recollections. There were some very commendable comments from Saints fans coming on our board after last week's game - all credit to them. But after the game at our place raearlier in the season, I seem to recall a considerable amount of less than amiable comments from both sets of fans - not least because a few of ours descended to let them know that it was only a matter of time before the 'natural order' would be restored and we'd be in their position in the table.
