It is being rumoured that QPR defender Matt Connolly could be used as a makeweight in the deal to bring Victor Moses to Loftus Road from Wigan.

The west-London side are in the process of tabling a bid of around £6m for Moses but Wigan are allegedly holding out for a figure nearer £10m on a player they believe could go right to the top of world football.

QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes isn’t keen on splashing extortionate transfer fees around, so manager Mark Hughes has thrown in the former Arsenal reserve captain Connolly along with the current £6m bid.

This would be an attractive proposition for Latics manager Roberto Martinez, who was planning a move for the out-of-favour QPR defender anyway. Connolly is known as a ball playing centre-half and would fit into the passing philosophy at Wigan perfectly, something he has never had the chance to do at his time at QPR.

Connolly is available for a transfer at QPR following the signings of Taye Taiwo and Nedum Onouha, and the potential move for Chris Samba from Blackburn. Hughes still has to strengthen his attacking options though and this has triggered the move for the Wigan winger.

Moses is a player that Hughes has had his eye on for a while and allegedly nearly purchased him when manager of Fulham.

The England under-21 international signed for Wigan from Crystal Palace for around £2.5m, and he has gone onto become one of the hottest young prospects in the Premier League with some dazzling

performances which have notified the attention of many scouts from around the world.

Would welcome this deal to come through with open arms. Don't rate Connolly at all and never have done. Too slow for me and his anticipation isn't all there either. Just makes too many errors for me.

Moses is definately a target worth battling for. Has pace, flair and is never afraid to run at ANY defender in the Prem. Always rated him and was gutted we never pinched him off Palace.

Don't know how reliable this site is that you found this rumour, but I hope this does happen!

You must acknowledge that he is at least a good player. Also, you must acknowledge that we need midfielders!

Would be an exciting addition. Young, pacey, prem class and will improve. Fingers crossed.

Just feel he has stood still at Wigan, he'll be better than SWP but I'd rather we went for a playmaker first and foremost if we're getting anymore midfielders in...

I'd still like us to bid for Kranjcar, every player has his price...

Yeah...Not convinced he's as good as he was, but may be worth a shot.

It's definitely what's missing from our attacking play and regardless of strikers brought in we need a service for them. Moses has played in all Wigan's games this season and they are the lowest scorers in the division, we'd be taking a chance on him. However, Moses AND Kranjcar could be an exciting prospect...

Yes, but at 10 million you're having a laugh.

Please don't think I'm trying to reignite all the Adel arguing, but let's not forget that his return will bring a fair bit of creativity with it (hopefully...with the wind in the right direction and dependent upon MH liking him etc etc!!).

I'd love to see Adel at his best pulling the strings but will he fit in a 4-4-2? I hope MH can work the oracle with him...

I wouldn't be surprised if this deal turned out to be Rodallega 5 mil plus connally just seems to make more sense because why do we need another winger?

This is true. But I think an out-and-out striker and a replacement for Faurlin are needed before wingers.

Without Faurlin our ball retention is awful. Even with him it was pretty bad. I hope he returns the same player next season as he was this season! With him I think we would have given Chelsea a much better game.
