Mali have to win to stay in the ACN, but they are playing a very weak side (Botswana) so expect that. Luckily Traore and Taarabt will be back sooner, and it appears neither got much game time so they should both be itching to get back into the side.

Overall, a good signing though. The French League is very unproven but has so many quality players, I'm expecting him to be a good asset to the side

I was thinking about future cups where they could be missing for over a month. Ill be cheering on Malis opponents now.

Just what we need imo. Am I right in thinking that Traore and Taarabt are on their way back? If so, one player is hardly half the team is it?

They have one more group game each (before end of the month) but they can't qualify. I'd expect them to miss the villa match, but be back for the weekend

After we sign Diakite which I think is in the bag we will sign Rodallega and Samba, that is my prediction forget all the others.

QPR boss Mark Hughes acknowledged his interest in Diakite on Friday, with the midfielder currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Mali.

However, the 23-year-old has been given permission by Mali coach Alain Giresse to travel to England to undergo a medical ahead of completing a move to Loftus Road.

Lyon had been interested in signing Diakite, who can also play in defence, but the player has opted for a switch to the Premier League.

    Agreed
"Alain Giresse, coach of Mali, agreed that Samba could go to England to complete his loan," said Rousselot in L'Equipe.

"It will be a loan with an option to buy if QPR are still in the Premier League at the end of the season."

A fee of €4million (£3.4m) has been agreed for a permanent deal and Diakite could now join Nedum Onuoha and Taye Taiwo as new signings at QPR.

He will help to fill the void created by the injury to Alejandro Faurlin and Hughes has not ruled out further captures before the close of the transfer window
