He and his mates dress like a boy band. I never realised there were actually people out there in 'real life' who do that...
You're missing my point. New players don't instantly earn the right to play every week just because they're new. Ie the likes of Cairney should have been getting in ahead of Harper and Evans (the latter was extremely poor when we initially signed him) but he insisted upon playing them regardless. I'm not saying Cairney should have been in the team every week.
He's played 55 times for us now and he started 43 of those games, he can't really claim he hasn't had chances, he just didn't take them(though he did look better in the Premier League games).
I wasn't trying to say he hasn't had any chances, I was merely pointing out that the status of 'new signing' should not be so strong that you're the first name on the team sheet regardless of form. So this goes not only for Cairney but for anyone. Simpson is a prime example. 4 goals in 2 games but is relegated to the bench and 88th minute substitute appearances purely and simply because we signed two new strikers, despite the fact that McLean didn't exactly start brightly.
there was one moment yesterday, where he dropped his shoulder and burst past some one...but then that was it . likes he thinks ive done that now, thats enough for one game, he could have dominated that game yesterday and been a player we looked at, to get us back in it, for some reason doesnt seem to have it in him other then short bursts, tho in his defence he didnt have a lot to work with. yesterday showed how reliant on koren and rosenoir we are going forward, either of them get injured, were donald ducked.
He doesn't do anything. People always bang on about his passing or whatever, then he plays, and does nothing. Who seriously would stick him in our first choice midfield ahead of McKenna, Koren & Evans? He doesn't deserve to in there, and now Oli is back around, he's further down the pecking order. I think his entire reputation is based around one decent game in the Premier League, then when people have hoped he would do it again, he never has.
I would have liked to see Koren play as i thought their number 5 was superb. He screened the back four like Ash of old. Evans may be a twatt but he is no mug, he will have watched how Derby beat us and set them up accordingly. Would Koren have found enough space? I doubt it with the lack of service. But i expect a lot of teams to do what Derby and now Crawley have done.
I'm with you on this OLM. Rest Evans (although against Peterborough he was my MOTM) give Oli a chance Alongside McKenna. Hope to see our first team on Tuesday (only team) Mannone Rosser, Chester, Hobbs, Daws Oli, McKenna Brady, Koren, Stewart McClean subs: Carson, Dudge, Simpson, King, Evans
from what i saw evans was trying to pick up his as well as cairneys players, wasnt he deployed in the 2 man midfield that were meant to be stationed just in front of the back four? cantered back on crawleys breaks, constantly didnt mark or track runs, made evans look like a headless chicken deciding who was going to try and mark and tackle. hasnt got the workrate to really stand out in the championship im afraid. all neat touches and tidy 3 yard passes but end product asissts/goals are few and far between and ive covered his workrate
Can't argue with this, he's a very talented player but there is a good reason he hasn't been playing. NP played Cairney until he got injured and then went with Koren instead, who can argue with that? It's blatantly obvious how to stop us and it has been for ages. Derby and Crawley were the latest in a long line of teams to play that way. Even top of the league West Ham didn't vbother attacking against us, they just went for the 10 behind the ball tactic and scored both their shots. We're way too one-dimensional; if we don't score first, we're ****ed. I'd agree that Cairney's touch is PL class, but in this league touch and skill come second to battling and physical play (look at Fryatt with his back to goal). I do think people are being harsh on Tom though, as Chazz and JD say, he was one of the better players yesterday.
Tiger city No I dont live next door to Rosies gran hilarious line though. With out wanting to sound a dick I know 2 players and some coaching staff outside of football who all say the same. He thinks he s a star and he s far from it. If James Harper had put in that performance yesterday he d of been chased out of town.
There is way too much personal bitterness in your posts about Cairney. Why. And what sort of team mates are they that they slag off a player to you!
I wouldnt say there is personal bitterness towards him If anything Its frustration, first the fact that people on here wont hear anything said against him because he had a good game against Everton and secondly because there is a player in there somewhere but it is wasted. He honestly reminds me of Stuart Green and look what came of him. For the record they didnt come to me slagging him off I asked the question because in every programme on the player questions page he is the worst trainer Its hardly a secret when 15000ish fans are reading it every week.
Again you make your opinion is what everyone else thinks. So what if he is a bad trainer. Soccer Am asks that question every week and every team has one.
My next door neighbour who uses a zimmer-frame moves faster that Cairney....That lad is going to end up in Brigg Town reserves if he doesn't pull his finger out.
