Alan Smith was forced out and is a club legend if you speak to anyone. As for all the guys you mention they all moved on for large fees which helped save the club, lets be honest these were top quality players who got us very far in europe (its nice you know) so we couldnt expect them to stay they moved to clubs which suited their level of play at the time. San Jose Earthquake however joke. Man Utd is a bigger club than us, just so i for one wont begrudge them
