Ahhh it's fairly decent you get loads of the pretentious lot there who do all that arm waving crap and just generally don't know a thing but it's always got some quality people on show

all the people i mention are renown for intelligent hip hop with storys behind most of the songs. yes i do like nas game ect, but people are so wrapped up in "whats gangsta" that they dont actually pay attention to people who put the artist into a hip hop artist.

I noticed :p. You should check out Lowkey. He is essentially a British version of Immortal Technique but is better. He goes in hard with some "ghetto grime" but he more about aq message and being smart/political with it now. He is extremely talented

He's a got good skills as a rapper, but it's the Geordie thing that holds him back ( As you don't see any Geordies making it in rap ). Infact, there's quite a large underground scene up here in Newcastle.

Does he just rap about his local area or does he write other stuff too?

If it is not from London, it won't make it. The next city to get any breakthrough will be Birmingham! Their underground scene is about to blow up!

He writes other stuff too. Newcastle City was a sort of commerical song to get him more noticed. He's got an album and is currently working on another.

The 2 big ones are De-vilman and Sox. Check them out. I am not such a fan purely for the fact that their strong brum accents put me off but clearly enough people there do like them

Eazy-E is absolutely horrible. You do realise he doesn't even write his own lyrics right? Ice Cube/MC Ren wrote most of them Jedi Mind Tricks are pretty stupidly overrated in the underground as well. Eminem is far and away the best rapper to ever do it (it's a shame most people completely miss what he does well, especially 'hip hop headz' who are usually ****ing idiots), his first 3 albums are just insanely good. Nas, Talib Kweli, Big L, OutKast, The Roots are also up there.

In terms of UK scene, Akala is the standout MC at the moment (and for the last few years). Definitely the most intriguing. If it wasn't for Lowkey's Immortal Technique-esque (who is also terrible) conspiracy theories he'd be up there. His structures are a bit too 'obvious' for my liking as well. His passion and concepts are nice though.

I could honestly talk hip-hop all day.
