Redknapp has confirmed at trial that he was entitled to % profits from transfers he had brought in. I have heard this before with Ian Holloway, but I think it represents a huge conflict of interest.

A case in point might be our recent sales with Bent, Hendo, Cana, Gyan et al moved on without much fight from the gaffer.

It all stinks a bit to me Comm. I can imagine that if Pardew is on a (reputedly) low salary his contract would be full of this stuff and fans might wonder why he rolls over and accepts 20mil for Ba. The fans are being royally shafted once again.

    Certainly food for thought mate..

100% Harry is not the only dodgy manager in the league, and a lot of under-handed deals go on..

Agents to mangers...agents to players...managers private calls etc...

It's big money business...where there is money, a lot of under-handed deals go on..

    Probably following in politician footsteps..

    It all stinks mind.

Wouldn`t it be good if the EPL forced clubs to publish the terms of the contracts or at least the bits where it can be seen how they can earn cash. No need even to publish the hard numbers or %'s (which could properly be seen as commercially sensitive) just the "how" bonuses etc are built up.

I have no problem with a bonus being payable to the manager depending on the league position or the cup run etc (performance/merit/reward) but if he gets paid on the back of selling on players then there must be a huge risk of a conflict of interest. Taking the Harry scenario and apply to Bruce

Harry (apparently according to the reports) took 10% of the profits made on transfers

    Bruce buys B£nt for £10m

    Sells B£nt for £18-24m

Assume the lower amount - we make a profit of £8,000,000. Bruce gets 10% - £800k; On £24m Bruce pockets £1.4m!!! FFS

How hard would he fight to persuade him to stay put?

Sod the fans, sod the club, £800k is a lot of pension planning!

Also - how does it work for "home grown" talent - Hendo??? all pure profit so more millions for SB

    Can`t be right surely

Wenger must be on a similar deal from his transfer dealings, do not see how that is legal let alone ok!

If it does exist, it will only be 1%-2%, but i cant see anything wrong with it tbh.

And for a player that cost 0, they will get 0, as you cant have a % of nothing.

Most managers are on 500,000-6,000,000 a year, so a few grand extra wont force their hand to sell a player IMHO. (just look at Modric)

the manager is the one that got them into the team and got their value up for the owner to sell at an inflated price. No different than a car salesman/Double Glazing salesman/Banker (but at the top they get huge bonuses).

But isnt he getting done for tax evasion, not bungs, so even if he got the bonuses and put them in an offshore bank and didnt pay taxes on them, he is still ****ed.

I read that Pardew was on 500,000 (somewhere)

and i got 6 mil from Cappello, but sure a league manager will be matching him if not getting more. SAF/Mancini/AVB to name but 3.

It's been happening for a long time.
I recall Brian Clough having similar 'arrangements'.
