With Redknapp now looking unlikely and no decent English managers around it looks like it might be another foreigner.
    So who do you reckon?
I would be surprised if anyone else agrees with me but I'm going for Wenger!!!

I know he is a whining, devious and lying Frenchman, but that has nothing to do with his ability as a manager.
He produces teams that play brilliant football (closer to the successful style of the Spanish than any other Premiership manager)
He turns rough diamonds into star players on a regular basis.
He could be the catalyst that focusses our other managers to play skillful football rather than regurgitating the same blood and thunder hoofball that has won us nothing since 66.
He knows the English game and our players as well as anyone.
He could now be willing to leave Arsenal and they might equally be willing to let him go.
He is wanted by Real Madrid which speaks volumes about how he is valued as a manager in world football.

I know the fact that he is French is enough for many to rule out all of the above, but who is better and most importantly why??

Innocent or Guilty Harry Rednapp is Perfect for the England managers job. His ethics fit in perfectly with what the English FA are all about. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Chances are Redknapp and his dog might have to give up their international ambitions for a while.

Let's actually wait and see what the jury's verdict is with HR first can we? Innocent until proved guilty and all that..................
And, much as I admire Wenger as a manager, I don't think he and England are in any way a good match, for a start he and Arsenal have always been criticised for not developing or playing enough English talent, so the idea that he's going to get the best out of the national team is way off.
If he does leave the Gunners ( and if ever a man was born, or at least christened to manage a team it's Arsene !!) then I reckon he'll go to one of the big continental clubs

IF Arsene Wenger Ever leaves Arsenal then my tip is that he will go to Real Madrid. Long shot but you never know.

I know nothing has been proven with Redknapp yet, but we can still talk about the possibility that England might be forced to look elsewhere.
I agree Wenger's track record with English players has been abysmal but that's probably because he has no obligation to pick them for Arsenal if he thinks there are better foreign options.
If he was England manager he would have to bring out the best in our players.

I don't think Tony Pulis (A proud Welshman) will want the England job.

I don't think Wenger would make a good international manager.

Yes he does produce good teams and turns rough diamonds into star players. However he does that by working closely with the player every day.

At international level the manager doesn't really have much opportunity to develop talents players have, merely take their existing talents and try and fit them together in the best way he can, as at best he only has the players together say once every other month for about 4 days.

Because of that, I don't think the kind of manager that Wenger is really suits the international scene, whereas a more motivational character (such as Redknapp, or Pulis as others have mentioned) would be better suited

Regardless of whether they can prove that Teflon Harry is as bent as a 6 pound note, it absolutely must be a foreign manager. No Englishman is anywhere near good enough.

I'd like to see Hiddink get it. I'd love Wenger too.

Mind you, If that Guardiola begged, I'd take him.

I'd prefer Hiddink as well, even though he was given a suspended sentence for tax offences in 2007...

Martin O'Neill is a decent shout, I can't think of many others though.

As for Wenger, yes his team plays good football but they aren't the only ones. Both Manchester clubs play good football as do Chelsea, it's not like the PL is awash with long ball sides. The thing is he's been building a team for 5 or 6 years now, the kids he signed are adults now and still don't look like winning anything.

If anyone has been frustrated this season by our lack of a striker, Wenger would be even worse, he's had goalkeeping and defending problems for a good 3 years now and ****ed up his signings every window. Arsenal have massive crowds and make money every year, he should be doing a lot better than he is.

And he's a devious lying frenchman.

    Why should it be foreign?

This is the NATIONAL team, and this is playing for our Nation. Why is it in the rules that players have to be English, but coaches don't. It is a test of which country is the best, surely that involves developing managers? We might aswell sign four Italians for our teams if we get a foreign manager.....
