Crawley fan here in peace,am coming up for the game on saturday,we have a couple of youngsters with us and would appreciate a bit of advice as to where we could go for a few beers before the game.Ideally with sky sports and not too far from the ground. Am looking forward to visiting the K.C. as it looks an amazing ground but am hoping you make plenty of changes to the team otherwise we could get blown away, not been playing that well lately (bristol city aside that is).
http://www.ukpubfinder.com/pub/38926 The Brickmakers Arms is somewhere away fans can feel welcome in I believe. Although it's been a while since I've frequented! It's very near the KC, so maybe try a few others first.
Walton Club's probably favourite. There's a small charge to get in but the drinks are cheaper. Straight opposite the main car park just along from Brickmakers.
Brickies certainly OK with visiting supporters & close to the ground. On the downside the beer is crap.
You're best not linking to General Chat unless you want peculiar replies. I've edited it for you. Safe Journey to all traveling.
..........and miles from the ground. In truth, though, if I were visiting the KC, I would use the Park and Ride from Hessle, get off at the West Park turnaround and then either walk or catch a bus into town and go to the old town. Or park at Princes Quay, have a couple in the Old Town and walk to the ground (probably about 30 mins from Old Town if you've got kids). There are pubs near to the ground, but it's a pretty run down are (apart from the Park where the stadium is) and the pubs are shyte.
The Silver Cod is a very nice pub which is very close to the ground, also perfect for away fans, although I'd reccomend leaving your youngsters on a table outside while you first walk in. Also, make sure to wear your colours! Hope you have a good day out but hoping you don't enjoy what happens on the pitch (unless you enjoy watching opposition teams dominate of course!)
I'll but in here seing as I don't like the thought of youngster crying because their parents have been rushed off to hospital with knife wounds. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GO IN A PUB CALLED THE SILEVER COD.
If you've got youngsters with you, you're probably better off down Princess Ave, it's a short walk from the ground, there's plenty of bars and you should be able to get parked round there. Pave is big, has decent beer and is fine for away fans, though don't eat in there, if you get peckish, nip to the chippy across the road.
Try the places down Princes Avenue, nice area and welcoming for away fans from what i've heard. Not sure on places to eat though.
There's also Admiral of the Humber, which is a weatherspoons pub. Does food, drink, has a few tellys on and is about 15-20 minutes walk from the ground. Warning the service is quite bad. It's in the centre of town on the corner of Ferensway and Anlaby rd, opposite the hideous block of offices.
Both Dukes and Garbutts on Princes Avenue do food - park further down Princes Avenue (beyond Marlborough Ave towards Queens Road) - walk up to the stadium in 15 mins.
To eat I'd definitely have to reccomend a Thai resteraunt on anlaby road called Siam Buri. They do a lunchtime deal on a Saturday afternoon 2 courses for a 5er I think. Bloody good and bloody nice! The food there is great! And a very good price IMO. Edit: also it's only a 5 minute walk to the ground, and there's plenty of places to park near ye olde boothferry park, which I'd imagine is the way you'd drive in anyway. Then further up the road you can visit the silver cod
