For how much longer will Lampard, Gerrard etc be playing for England? 1-2 years tops. Cappello should drop any 31 years old (or older) and give the younger players a chance to get experience and build a good team spirit ready for the World Cuü qualifiers.

    Very mature

Ive seen Cattermole several times chasing shadows enough times to form my own opinion of him.

He simply isnt good enough for/at International level

In December 2008, Cattermole was given a three-year ban across the Stockton borough. He was added to the Pubwatch blacklist of troublemakers after being arrested for disorder during a night out in Yarm. Police were called by door staff about 11.40pm and Cattermole was subsequently arrested.[3] In March 2011, it was announced that Cattermole's ban would be extended to December 2012 after a unanimous vote by the members of Pubwatch. Cattermole has declined to comment on these matters.[4]

He received a red card on the first game of the season against Birmingham City for a second bookable offence. Sunderland manager Steve Bruce later referred to referee Anthony Taylor as 'out of his depth.' He received his second red card of the season against Wigan Athletic, earning him a booing from the away Black Cats fans as they went on to lose their 1-0 advantage

Lee's tough tackling style has put him into troublesome situations with referees, not even lasting for a half on a couple of occasions this season. Bruce, despite backing Cattermole as club captain has said that his disciplinary record must improve in order for further development at the Stadium of Light.

Didnt he get arrested not so long ago for destroying peoples property?

Sounds like a great example to captain your club!

or attacking a DJ, numerous cases of adultery, evading tax, the list goes on.

There are very few genuine people at the 'top' of football.

Like I said in an earlier post mate, the England squad is full of tossers.

I think he is good enough to play for England but I don't think he will be given a chance because of his personal life.

Parker is 31 and although he is decent he is nowhere near as good as some make out. I am sure Catts would look like a would beater in a midfield with Modric, VDV, Lennon and Bale.

Parker failed to make an impact at Newcastle and Chelsea then was part of a West Ham side that got relegated. He is ahead of Catts but no by much. For me Wilshire and Cleverly are the reasons he wont get in, but he could be decent back up.

I feel his off the pitch antics will mean England wont happen for him. Then again Terry, Rooney etc... are just as bad.

Did you watch the recent sunderland v man city game where he outplayed Nigel de jong (Apparently hes one of the best holding midfield in the world) and your aforementioned Garth Barry? Obviously not!

Think you're right mate, Catts although much improved of late is not international class.Scott Parker was an international in the making when at Charlton, breaking into the squad, playing every week as big fish in little pond, took the big dosh to go and warm the bench at Chelski and playing only occasionally rightly lost his place in squad.
parker could be the holding one in the middle to give others room to roam

Agree with Bart. Two things hold Catts back - on-field discipline and lifestyle. He's tackling one now, and is picking up much fewer cards. Now he needs to sort out the other. Once he gets a drink inside him, he's an embarrassment and England won't tolerate that on foreign trips no matter who the manager is.

    Barry = utter ****e
Gerrard + Lampard = too old + never been able to work together
Parker = has a couple of years at best

Cattermole, if he can sort his lifestyle out AND can keep his current form has a chance I believe

However Jack Rodwell may be chosen before Catts as hes younger, not as hot-headed and has a better all round game

****ing Gareth Barry. Slower than a snail with a gamy leg.
    Parker, canny but nowt special,
Lampard, golden boy, will be in the squad until he is 53.
Gerrard, as above but change 53 to 57.
Catts, if he went to pool or the like would be in that squad within 6 months (if not in prison like)

Funny that - Lee Cattermole is yet to be sent off this season - check your facts.
Also - Steve Bruce stated he had to sort out disciplinary issues - if you watched him NOW instead of watching youtube footage of him from 18 months - 3 years ago then you would realise that he is a much different player.

His discipline since O'Neill took over has improved immensely and his reputation gets him booked more often than not

Also - he has 7 yellow cards this season - 2 more than Parker - and NO red cards (yes 0)
The aforementioned Gareth Barry (who is one of the worst passers of a football I have ever seen in an England shirt!) has 6 yellows and 1 red - making his disciplinary record better than Barry.

Cattermole is a ****, but seems to have calmed him self down a bit under O'neill.

He should have been sent off this season at least once but w/e

I'd rather have an in form Cattermole playing for England than ****ing Gareth Barry, so I hope Catts does make it.

Tash is a ****. Nothing more to add.... :D

When should he have been sent off?? He probably should only have been booked 4 of the 7 times that he has been!! 3 of the booking were for being Lee Cattermole

He should have been sent off against us in the 0-1. He just totally went straight into the back of Jonas and took him out, not attempt to get the ball, definite red card. And in that match he put several really ****ty tackles in.

You should have ended that game with 8 men. <ok>
