True, but the only table that matters is the last one after 46 games. Top 2 after West Ham away is job done. <ok> <applause> <bubbly>

Pathetic Scummer !! - as you are well aware, Pompey fans raised the money and repaid all the cash to the various charities concerned, which was the right and proper thing to do. Saints were VERY close to going under themselves, a few years ago, were you happy about that at the time ?

Fans have no say in the running of their club, it is not our fault we have been owned by a succession of "dodgy" people in the last few years.

PS. Good luck for the rest of the season Hull fans - Nicky Barmby is doing a good job for you <ok>

It's never the fans fault, even the ones who stop going because you get relegated.

Portsmouth need to start to be honest in their dealings.

It's a shame for their fans. We've had some dodgy twats nearly ruin us on a few occassions, but unlike Pompey we've some how come out of it fine.

I'd like to see them survive all this.

I also want us to beat them at Fratton Park.

I'd also like to see them survive, but I do wish they'd stop spending more and more money on PL players and then moaning they can't fill a bench of 7 players (which is their own fault for blowing all their money on unsustainable wages) meaning we all have to put up with a 5 man bench. And they paid Norris more than we were offering which they couldn't afford.

Mixed feelings on this - they can't pay the public purse the money they owe, yet they are rejecting cash offers for players and even signing ex-man city players they patently can't afford - it's nothing short of a scandal, tantamount to cheating - everyone else has to cut their cloth accordingly....

I feel for their fans but Portsmouth really are taking the p!ss. Just a flagrant disregard of their financial responsibilities - they can't even say as they did when they came down that getting back up would be the best way of them paying their creditors - they're no-where near mounting a challenge this season.

They should be forced to sell players for what they can get and lighten the wage bill if at all possible, and play the reserves and kids they can't shift if necessary. We had to do that when we came down even if it meant paying the majority of a players wages to play for a rival.

Their execs are not fit to run a football club IMO. They only have themselves to blame. I'm sure the fans would prefer another relegation to watching their club fold completely.

Someone needs to set an example somewhere.

Its always the fans who suffer no matter what. But facts are facts. Pompey have to sell now to survive. End of.

They owe the tax man 1.6 million and face a winding up order on 20th Feb if the tax bill is not paid. They have been offered a reported 1.2 million for Joel Ward and Jason Pearce by Ipswich Town WHICH IF TRUE they should be forced to take. Sell one maybe 2 more and they should be able to avoid administration for now.#

One interesting point is that the Pompey manager says that they only have 13 fit players for this weekends re-arranged game(from 31/jan) @ Peterboro and 2 of them are goalkeepers. Oh dear, but it could be worse.

As well as HMRC there are a lot of other creditors. Doesn't any potential investor have to guarantee a £20mill debt owed to the previous owners?

If so, even if players are sold to pay the all/the majority of the debt to HMRC there is still that debt hanging over them and the previous owners could take over the running of the winding up petition and wind the club up.

Plus, with a tax bill of £1.6mill, they clearly cannot make their annual tax bills so the problem is not going to go away unless a wealthy investor is found.

    In short, I think they're f***ed

Yes, but they will get more time IF they get the HMRC off there backs first. But yes in the end it looks very gloomy for the Pompey. Just hope that they can last until May. But i fear that Pompey will have half a team at least of kids when we go there on 4th Feb.2012

This is what I mean, they keep blowing all their budget on a squad of mayybe 15-20 players that they can't afford, when the sensible thing that every other club does is to have more players on lower wages. Then they moan that they can't field a full bench.

Maybe next season it'll just be 3 subs for everyone because poor old Pompey still can't fill a bench.

True. But it was not just Pompey who voted for a smaller bench. Next season it will be league by league on the subs issue. Lets hope we dont have to worry about that eh ? PL will keep it at 7 subs.

Not using all the places on the bench is just trying to get sympathy as im sure they have youth players that would welcome the experience of been included in the match day squad and sitting on the bench even if they know they have no chance of getting on the pitch

Another day - another Portsmouth going under story.. This is becoming tedious..However when they pay the likes of Kitson, Norris and Lawrence top salaries my sympathy wanes. PI$$ off Pompey.

how many times have they gone into administration-sorry for their supporters but is it fair on other clubs when they sign players over what they can afford thereby stopping other clubs signing then go bust

    please remember 2/3 years ago

We were looking good to sign Norris in the summer, until Pompey came in and offered almost double the wages, despite not having any money and having just shafted all their major creditors, including us(taxpayers).

I have sympathy for most of their fans, as they weren't directly responsible, but some of them were bragging on message boards and look like a bunch of ****s now(which of course they are).

Let's not take the piss, we've got our fair share of ****s.

I agree it's a shame their fans have to go through all this again, but their owners deserve all that's coming to them.

Glad that we did not get Norris to be honest. Like Danns way over rated. Money grabbers can go elsewhere. As fior Norris, i hope he is owed many weeks money. Serves him right.

Hmmm, the sceptic in me suspects that this has happened in order to get an adjournment of the hearing of the winding up petition
