Craig Levein is trying to convince Hull winger Cameron Stewart to opt to play for Scotland rather than England. "We have spoken to Cameron," the Scotland boss told the Scottish Sun. "Mick Oliver [Scotland team scout] has done a lot of the work and we're keeping an eye on him. Quote from the BBC.....

Seen as its a slow news day anyone seen this article about Scotland wanting to call up Cam? http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-15030096-detail/story.html. His mum's a Scot apparently, I suppose thats why he's called Cameron! The England setup seem to have lost interest in him as he hasnt played since last season for the U19's, although im fairly sure he must be on Pearce's radar for the U21's. If he does switch he'll have McCairney to join up with. McCooper has also played for their U19's admittedly a while ago.

Can you now qualify for the Scottish team, just because you have a Scottish sounding name?

Frazier Campbell and Cameron Stewart could be the Scotland back four.

His mum's Scottish, his dad's from Jamaica and he was born in England (Manchester).

I know which of those countries i'd like a free ticket to play footy in every now and then!!

I am not on Twitter so I would be unaware of this. I hope he decides to keep to England. I would feel a sense of Pride if he ever got an England call up, even if he was signed by another club in the future

I think he was in the last under 19 squad before his injury and with there being no internationals since his returned we really have no idea where he'd fit in, if at all.

Liam Rosenior is eligible to play for Sierra Leone through his father, wonder if they can fend of interest from Scotland to sign him....

His dad's Sierra Leone, and his nana lives in Hull. Assuming that's his dad's mum is Rosenior the best thing to happen to the City as a result of being twinned with Freetown then? (ie he's here because she lived here, did she choose here because she'd heard about us through that linkup)

Being part Jock, i want them to do well, mainly to make my mam stop whining about watching England at major tournaments.

Another international would be good for us & it would be great publicity whoever he opts to play for.

check out Lawrie Sanchez's wiki page

"Lawrence Philip "Lawrie" Sanchez (born 22 October 1959) is a Northern Irish football manager,"

    "Sanchez was born in London"

Why sportsmen are any different to everyone else in the world is beyond me, why can they choose what country they're from? You're from where you're born (unless it's an exception eg born on a 2 week trip to Wales etc)

I don't see the problem where it's someone like Stewart (there's a but at the end).

He has a Scottish parent, and there's clearly a lot of pride in that given he's been given such a Scottish first name (and has his mother's surname? it sounds scottish as well) so he could easily have been brought up to think of himself as Scottish. On that basis why shouldn't he join Cairney in playing for them?

The but being, if he thinks of himself as Scottish he shouldn't have played for England above schoolboys level (where it's based on where your school is not on the individual so he couldn't play for Scotland).

So if two Scottish people are living in England when they have a kid then that kid isn't allowed to be Scottish?
