Well chaps, we're now coming towards the end of the January window, and the 'scoops' are going to start coming thick and fast. We all know that a lot of what we'll hear and read over the next few days will be utter bollox. All footy fans have long been of the opinion that journos make up lots of these transfer stories without worrying themselves over technicalities like the truth or actual facts, and can pass off anything as being from a 'source close to the club/player'. So why don't we try and prove it? I propose a competition. The aim is simple. To get a totally ficticious transfer rumour onto national TV / Radio / internet (SSN, BBC, Talksport etc) or in print in a local or national newspaper (obviously the more kudos is gained by getting a story in say the Sun or the Mirror rather than the Barrow-in-Furnace Gazzette). You can do it alone, or work together in 2s and 3s so the same story comes from a 'number of sources'. The more unlikely the better. There have to be rules, so: 1. The story must involve a player from a Premier League or Championship team, or a real player playing abroad coming to England (although hats off to you if you can get a story out there about a totally ficticious player!) 2. Before you start, you must post the intended story here, so we all know it's a genuine effort. No prizes other than the respect and admiration of your fellow 606ers. Go to it, gentlemen.

this is a totally sweet idea. however i think it'll take a large and coordinated effort to do it. i reckon we should say some sort of dutch winger that plays for a prominent side but doesn't seem to get much press outside of holland. seems a reasonably believable place to recruit from.

Another Hesakmi challenge it is then!

Twitter will be very useful in this scenario, there's enough of us on here to get some local journo recognition at least.

I'm up for it. I reckon we should go for Number. 24 :bandit: who plays for Gent in the Belgian league. He's a young african winger.

Living in Cumbria and in fairly close proximity to the ****hole known as Barrow in Furness - note correct spelling - I feel I must take issue with the original post. The local newspaper - and I use the term loosely - is in fact the North West Evening Mail.

A plan like this needs a lot of time , just ask the ones that were involved in the Hesakmi saga! We got nufcfans to call the IK Start manager and ask him <laugh>

But we couldn't have achieved it without lots behind the scenes work and dedication , hell some of us were still up at 4am <laugh>

    Let the games begin.
