    If you look at the last 3 promotions they all have one thing in common

    1965-1966 promoted to the First Division league position 2nd

    1977-1978 promoted to the First Division league position 2nd

    2010-2011 promoted to the Championship league position 2nd


    Even the highest finish in the top flight was 2nd

    Saints have appeared in 4 FA Cup finals winning once and runners up 3 times

    League Cup runners up

    Zenith Data Cup runners up

    The only real exception was the JPT winning at the first attempt

    So if any of our supporters are glory hunters you are supporting the wrong team. That is not the Southampton way

    So looks like we are due a 2nd FA Cup win to even things up- oh and finish 2nd in the Championship. Bet Nigel would bite your hand off for that?

    England won the world cup in 1966,just like that this is irrelevant.

    You forgot runners up to the league title in 84, highest position ever.
