Drawing a blue line under the game yesterday, time to focus on the next one. .....................Bart........................ Richardson...Martin...Hooiveld...Shaw ............Hammond...JWP................. De Ridder.......Falque................Fox ..................Lambert..................... This is presuming we don't add anyone in the week, although it's possible that we might. I'm not too fussed about winning, would be nice obviously, but I'd be content with getting players match fit for Cardiff and finding a tactic that works. Without Lallana, we lack a spark of creativity. With that in mind, I think we need to keep it simpler by getting down the flanks and delivering for Lambert. Get some doubling up and overlapping going on out wide. I know Lambert likes to drift out wide, but I think we should discourage him from that as he's needed more in the middle.
I reckon that all those who played in Monday's game should play again only this time with a plan and Lee on the bench
I think the first 11 should play, batter Millwall (hopefully) and get a real confidence boost. Load the bench with youth players.
Bart Butts - Martin - New Player - Shaw De Ridder - Hammond - JWP - Falque Lambert - Lee Bench: Davis, Stephens, Fox, Lallana, Holmes, Guly, Hoskins/Sinclair.
Bart Richardson Martin New player Fox Cork Schneiderlin Ward-Prowse Falque Lambert Guly Subs: Davis, Harding, Lallana, Hammond, Lee (if available), De Ridder, Holmes
i dont think he has a recall option, i would go with: Bialkowski Richardson Martin Hooiveld Shaw De Ridder Ward-Prowse Schneiderlin Holmes Reeves Lambert Subs: Davis, Stephens, Hammond, Lee, Guly, Harding, Sinclair - Sam Hoskins I know is injured and Falque is cup-tied having already played for Tottenham
Wouldn't like to risk Hooiveld and think we should rest some other players for Tuesday's game against Cardiff which is much more important than the cup. Bialkowski Butterfield Martin Fonte (if fit, otherwise Cork) Harding De Ridder Ward-Prowse Hammond Falque Lambert Lee (or Barnard)
I would play a strong team to get the Leicester result out of the system. Probably give some players a chance to redeem themselves but not risk players returning from injury. Bialkowski, De Ridder and Lambert should all play.
I think Shaw may not be risked as he and Chambers are off to Portugal with England U17 next week. So good that Saints have 3/4 England U17 players. I was not impressed by Falque, Holmes or Harding on Monday. Why not give another youth squad leftie a chance before his 17th birthday. If McQueen performs to his potential tomorrow night v Notts Forest then who knows ... Here's my stab: Bart Butterfield Stephens Martin Fox Cork Schneiderlin Ward-Prowse de Ridder Lambert McQueen Subs: Davis, Harding, Lallana, Hammond, Lee, Guly, Holmes
play the strongest available 11 (injuries allowing), and take kids for the bench and give three a game.
Bialkowski Butterfield - Fonte - Martin - Harding De Ridder - Hammond - Ward-Prowse - Holmes Reeves Lambert SUBS: Davis, Shaw, Lee, Doble, Forte, Stephens, Cork
I obviously think so. Natural left foot, dribbler, good passer, cracking shot and crosses but he also scores with his head e.g. Lovely goal for U21 v Exeter. I just think we need some wing play. Falque went to the centre too much.
