32 Million and then they would have to start spending real money. It cannot produce any income unless they get to the PL.
They've had their fair share of nutcases. Tax dodger Mandaric, the arms dealer Gaydamak, the "billionaire" con artist al Fahim, the invisible man Chanrai, most recently fellow crook Antonov. Even someone who makes money from underwater hotels didn't want to get involved.
I think Chainrai and Gaydamak will have to lower their asking price pretty sharpish when they realise that no one will go anywhere near that deal.
I really can't see a way out for them. It's going to take £32m just to acquire the club, let alone costs for paying players wages, building them team and pumping much needed money in to the infrastructure. With respect to Pompey fans, I think even they will agree there are about 30 other clubs who would represent much better value for money at a much cheaper cost.
Have they asked 'Arry? Maybe his dog has got £32m stashed somewhere? But really, if you had £32m you didn't know what to do with, would you choose to buy PFC? I suspect Beddy may have that sort of money, or maybe Godders but not the rest of us, so we'll just have to imagine. OK I'm, imagining and my considered answer is .... you having a laugh?
They reckon we only cost 13 million, thought whether we had debts on top of that I have no idea. But we had assets, though were only in League 1.
They're screwed. If Cala was the preferred bidder, then the rest must offer nothing. £32m just to stabalise the club is crazy, and then whoever does takeover has to take on the ridiculous wage budget. Some players are on £35k p/w.
Agreed. They somehow managed to buy and pay wages for the likes of Liam Lawrence and Luke Varney yet not pay their taxes. This is ludicrous especially as they didn't pay their taxes before.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/18/venkys-blackburn-chickens-nest-egg premier league Blackburn were a stable Premiership side (back then), and cost a mere 23 million to purchase. Blackburn had: premiership status that wasn't immediately threatened a strong fanbase good history a better stadia than fratton park potential for growth. so WHY, spend 32m on a club that has none of the above and is in the division below?
He didn't get involved because they didn't want him to build their new ground in Porstmouth harbour as there was not a lot of car parking space around......
Sadly there are not many Swiss based Fairy Godfathers out there, who like what they see in a Football Club and rescue them from disaster, I still cannot believe how fortunate we were. Which is all the more galling why we have had to put up with the mass of negative posts on here recently, yes we are all disappointed in a few recent events, but just how lucky are we to still be here to witness them, it will always be a roller coaster, there will always be ups and downs, it is now time for some more ups in my opinion, but only if we think positive, negativity has an awful way of dragging things down and should not be allowed to block the 5 year plan to get into the Premier, after all we are ahead of that at the moment. So come on people, count your blessings, put on your cheerful head on and lets help Markus reach his dream.
