gills reserves today played millwall losing 0 - 1, tough it was only a youthful gills side and a strong millwall one, the gills put in a decent performance especially the fist half. from O/S. of note the gills had a few trialists i.e. jordan brown(left back west ham), lewis thomas?, ryan marriott(ex TNS(wales) winger), and of big note MATT FRY(defender) ex loan player, who played 63 odd mins for us...which begs the question...could he well head back to us on loan??? did well last time with us and then went to charlton on loan, but has suffered a few injury setbacks in the last year or so...though we hope he's over them now! good player and hope it happens UTG!!!!!
gills, oxon - might be indicating a mass shake up for Saturday, has to be really otherwise Hessy is going to look pretty stupid after his weekend summary.
actually it looks like we played two friendly's of note, yes gills XI - millwallXI, but also west ham XI - gillsXI which included 6 first team players that played on saturday! game also had frank nouble up against us...hopefully heading back our way??? just seems very strange playing two games in one day...i know he's making his point and god they need to wake up, but hope hess doesn't run them into the ground to much before the weekend game!
It would be good to see Nouble come back on loan, he did not feature in West Ham's side on Saturday. I would like to see Hessy plug that hole on the left and leave Tomlin on the right. Please let it happen.
if matt fry signing happens?...send some credit this way please & you hess! i've said for about a month now that we needed to sign matt fry & jermaine mcglashan...well one out of two will help, seeing as mcglashan's at cheltenham fc now...though apparently we were the other interested party. any news on this joe carter fella we took on??? wouldn't mind seeing this jordan brown either...joe martin needs the challenge without a doubt! what says you brb
anyone think there's a strong possibility that we might get frank nouble back on loan...even if he has been in the west ham first team of late. i'm sure hess would of had a private word with west ham fc today at the match?! here's hoping
It is all well and good bandying around names that might well strengthen what is already a perfectly adequate and rather large squad but I would much prefer to see the club acquire a first class defensive coach even if it was only a short term appointment. Hessy cannot do everything and the team seemed to gain a lot from Wally Downes's short time at the club last year. The defeat on Saturday had little to do with lack of ability but much to do with organisation, attitude and ability to concentrate for a whole game and that applied to all of them, not just the defence.
gills oxon4everandaday, I would say that was a good call but I'm sure that Hess and Trigger are always trawling through the 606 forum for ideas!
think there is a very good chance we will see someone coming in today! also see bournemouth afc had agreed a fee with coventry city for cody mcdonald only for it to fall through because cody is out with an injury for a while and bourne wanted him now...so no deal for the time being! bring cody home hess!!!
Much as I'd like to see Cody back I don't think that more front men are top on the list of priorities at the moment. The fact that "Andy Hessenthaler has not ruled out the possibility of diving back into the transfer market before the end of the month to strengthen his squad" - http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~2588143,00.html - should only be surprising by the consideration that perhaps the possibility could be ruled out. More interesting news today on the defensive situation here - http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10416~2589462,00.html - in particular that a) If Connor Essam is recalled from Dartford then it looks like he'll play on Saturday and b) There's no current interest in Matt Fry
i just can't believe what hess is saying now regards the defence situation, he seems to be backing down on every word he said regarding changes...if so it's a total joke, and my faith in someone who's a legend for me is beginning to falter fast!. by the looks of what he's saying...fair enough give king a chance, but don't see him lasting longer than a game in truth, frampton is almost as injury prone as king and has been a let down so far...yet these are his answers to our problems and his so called drastic changes. yet he still isn't sure on an up and coming young player to throw in the team such as essam...hess all false words and i'm now starting to wonder, unless you keep those promises you stated last weekend!!! to not want to take matt fry on for whatever reason is beyond belief, a serious catch of a defender, who's free to leave west ham this summer and believe me will be snapped up by a club higher than ourselfs! if it be this or next season, we need to build a solid defence for our future, and i'm sorry but it's a no brainer that matt fry would be foundations for the start of that. yes hess has made some good calls on the players he's brought into the club, but on the defence side were starting to see his weakness i'd say! put the kids or sign a defender hess, be ruthless for bloody once...sort it out now!
of note hess said he won't play players out of position, yet are frampton and king the same position left sided defenders...like to see who plays on the right side then??? i think it's just words again!
heard hess talk on the radio and he said we're waiting on a couple of players, but otherwise we have a decent squad...what the****. hess did you not say things need to change, yet your sticking??? you've now lost me mate! just another thing...i can see southend fc taking matt fry on loan shortly...well done hess!
