I have a love/hate sort of feeling about three of our best players being in the tournament, but that aside, I do love the African Cup of Nations.

It's difficult not to conjure up negative stereotypes when you think of sport and tournaments in some of the poorest countries in the world. In fact, I expected a rather amateur affair.

How wrong I was. The stadiums look great, everything is very professional and it looks like a very well organised tournament. It's especially great to see so many fans cheering their team on. A lot of these countries have a lot of internal trouble, but this tournament seems like a way for everyone to unite and enjoy the sport.

    Anyone else enjoying it?

REASONS NOT TO LIKE ACON :

    - Camera is ****

    - Vuvuzela

    - Empty seats

    - We lose 3 valuable players

    - I only really know like 3 or 4 of the teams

    - Vuvuzela deserves another mention

Although you're right about the competition unifying the troubled countries etc.

The games are really open and I love the passion of players and fans there it's a cracking tournament but annoying when you're best players go there to play

Seems like a great atmosphere, and it looks just as professional and organised as any big tournament like the euros. As we live so far away we don't really have any bias towards any teams (well, apart from the teams with our players in) so if you love football in general, it's nice to pick a team and follow it all.

Good balance in the games as well. Some of these teams have some of the best players in all of the top leagues which makes for good matches, whilst the lesser teams generally have rather scrappy and physical games which are fun to watch. Most of the games are very open-ended as well which is entertaining.

I'd recommend it, or I'd at least recommend the extended highlights.

Ghana - Botswana and Mali - Guinea.

Might watch the latter and see how good Maiga really is.

The quality of football hasn't been quite as good as I'd hoped.

    Reasons to watch it:

    - Goalkeepers hilariously ****e

    - Good football can sometimes be played

    - Players mostly respect the ref (Unlike England)

    - THE GOAL CELEBRATIONS!

All very true. Did you see the keeper catching it outside the box? Hilarious.

I think we're a little spoiled watching Premier League and supporting NUFC because its pretty hard not to see empty seats in most leagues or tournaments (especially when you consider how little money the average person in these countries have to spend on superfluous things

Well there's only way to fix that, watch more of the countries play!

I want Senegal to get knocked out ASAP and Cote D'Ivoire to go all the way. Not sure I need to explain why...
