Here's a question. You know the rule where the ball has to be kicked out if an opponent is down injured? Well what's to stop someone, say in a Champions League final, from exploiting this and pretending to be injured so the attacker forfeits his chance?

The ball doesn't have to be kicked out, it's at the discretion of the player in possession until the ref blows his whistle <ok>

It doesn't have to be kicked out, you can play on, unless it's a head injury which the ref should stop play for. Don't quote me on that though.

Unless its a head injury it's down to whether you have a De Jong/Derry/Cattermole type player who won't kick the ball out or a lovable Colo who will kick the ball out and send grapes to the hospital whilst ploughing your wife to sustain her needs you cant fulfil

The only sudden stops are head injuries.

So basically, in that 5-10 second window where the opposition is mounting an attack which is likely to result in a goal, you have to find a way to injure your head (or look like you've injured your head) so you can go down on the floor and the ref is aware of it.

    I.e. it won't work.

The ref can halt the game if its a head injury but otherwise its down to fair play and at the opposition teams discretion.
Same with playing the ball back to them when the resultant throw in is taken.
Remember we got done over by Everton once when Gravesen tried to split Bernard into four, Everton took posession and scored.

Playing on isn't breaking the rules, it's just bad sportsmanship (like shooting from a drop ball). The only reason the ref HAS to stop the game is a head injury, blood injury or what is judged to be a serious injury which requires immediate attention.

Carry a sachet of tomato sauce around with you and splash it over your face if the opposition look like scoring.

It happens all the time! I remember against Forest in the Championship, we got the ball and their player hit the deck and was rolling around like someone had chainsawed his feet off. Then they got the ball back and were on the counter attack and he jumped up like nothing had happened and helped out. Then we beat the ****s <grr>!

It's hilarious - was hearing a Forest fan on 606 Football Phone In complaining about West Ham diving against them and he kept saying "Our players don't dive" "We don't have that mentality" "We get injured but play on - its been this way for years"

And now I read this ahaha

Werent players advised a few years back that they should NOT kick the ball out of play and let the ref to make the decision to stop the game??? This was to stop players rolling about feigning injury and trying to stop the flow! However players still kick the ball out! Cant blame them really......its always been the sportsman like thing to do!!!
