    Bendtner blow for Black Cats
Striker sustains fractured nose against Swansea
    Last Updated: January 23, 2012 4:35pm

Sunderland have confirmed that Nicklas Bendtner will require further treatment after suffering facial injuries in the 2-0 victory over Swansea.

The striker, on loan at the Stadium of Light from Arsenal, had to be substituted inside the opening 15 minutes of Saturday's game.

He was accidentally caught in the face by the boot of Swansea defender Angel Rangel and was replaced by Connor Wickham.

The Black Cats have now issued an update on Bendtner following a weekend scan, revealing that he has sustained a fractured nose and will continue to be monitored.

The head of Sunderland's medical department, Dr Glen Rae, told the club's official website: "The results of the scans have been received and Nicklas will now undergo further treatment.

"Sunderland Royal Hospital provided a first-class response and I would like to thank them for their assistance."

It does not say how long he will be out but im thinking at least 3-4 weeks

Cant argue with that. Never had any complaints with them.

Lets just hope Connor/Ji/Fraizer can fill the gap

Was it andy o'brian who had the "one more broken nose n he'll have to retire" threat throughout the later stages of his career? Phenominal beak on him like.

Is there even a gap to fill? Bendtner has been a bit ****e by the looks of things. Got absolutely nout to lose in trying two of the young'uns up front because, in my view, they can't offer any less of a goal threat than Bendtner did.
