We should be aiming higher than a Championship defender IMO.

I can't believe we're not taking the opportunity now to bid for Samba. I know they're saying he's not for sale but that's usually just to convince clubs to bid more.

Samba wants to leave, he's handed in a transfer request, the only team that's put a bid in at the moment is QPR!

Lets just put in a 10m bid and we'll be sorted for another area we lack depth in!

Saylor can't be relied on for fitness, and Willo is good but we can't rely on him for quality, he's good cover but not a first choice.

Samba isn't injury prone and is a very solid PL CB. I think paying the cash will be worth it. Plus he could be like another captain next to Colo.

Samba isn't worth 10m, that's the figure going for Vertonghen who is a level ahead of Samba.

Not personally, I heard that from someone on here.

Did find this though, one even mentions he's better than Willo

Not to fussed about Mariappa, would rather get in some proven quality. Someone mentioned Watford raving about him but I'm sure people at Nott's Forrest said Perch was good?! Can it be proved the guy has enough about him to step up to PL level, im sure he does well for Watford and all but its a big jump up!

The comments I read about Perch from Forest fans weren't very positive.

Samba is overpriced beyond belief and would demand QPR wages. No way.

"personally i think hes a bit too error prone for the prem but hopefully he'll prove me wrong if he goes." - Watford fan

Error prone championship defender at 25 years old... sounds very bad.

In amongst the people saying they don't want him to go, but if he did they'd want around 4-5 mil.

4-5 mil would be a sporting catastrophe

Willo is a solid back up to 1st choice. He isn't however, that step up like Colo/Saylor.

Lets face it, this late in the window it is hard to get a great player in as their clubs will charge stupid amounts. This is known as the Andy Carroll situation and we know how that turned out. There is more value down the league and Willo is good to be first choice for now. We need cover!

Hardly great news, but i do agree we should be aiming higher. Thats not being a snob about Championship players as quite a few teams in that league are good enough to play in the top leagues abroad i think. This lad is 25 though apparently right? I wouldnt have thought theres THAT much more potential to come from him then... He's hardly Nathaniel Clyne or Nathan Redmond.

From what i hear Watford fans rate him very highly and dont want him sold, the total opposite of what i was hearing when we were in for Perch.

Dunk wasnt supposed to have enough experiance, Rhys Williams was too expensive and West Ham wouldnt sell Tomkins.

I'd assume Douglas and Vertonghen would be a summer target, where as this signing is purely for back up in the mean time.

By the looks of it Vertonghen would be able to leave this summer as well.
