Caulker was centre back mate, think you're on about Neil Taylor ? I'd take him any day as left back - think the Skunks wanted him at start of season, but offered a derisory fee.
Killa could def do a job at LB, and has done in the past for SheffU but it's not his specialised position, just like Ricco and Bardo. An out and out LB should be a priority in my eyes - Taiwo would be great signing. Left Marseille for Milan but hasn't made a regular spot his own, if QPR get him it'd be a major coup.

A suppose thecquestion is how much do you pay to get a left back who is better than Ricco who is costing us nothing to play there? Realistically you are looking around 5-6 million pounds for a left back of similar stature or slightly better........how much do u pay for slightly better?

Sorry pal but for £6m you could buy a far better left back.

Also, Richardson may well not be costing us anything to play there but what sort of argument is that? If we have a **** forward do we stick with him just because if is costing up nowt? That's a bizarre theory if you don't mind of saying.

Left back is a problem we need to resolve ASAP imo. It's a huge weakness for us. Like it or not.

The thing I can't understand about all this Richardson business is the stats talk for themselves, we have one of the best defences in the league. We have not conceeded many goals at all. We should be congratulating all our defenders on a job well done and not getting on their backs.

Like Cest I would rather see Richardson on the left wing, give McClean a rest because there seems to be a lot of pressure on the lad at the moment. Richardson does not pick where he plays MON does and his decisions are good enough for me.

Interesting gossip Cest, I hope were going for maybe Billy Sharp or someone similar. A player hungry for Success.

i think richardson has suffered by never, in four and a half seasons at the club, been given a good run in the side in one of his better positions. arguably, his best position is behind the striker (take a look at the goals he has scored when in that role), but sessegnon is simply better than him there. however, i think richardson's ability to do a decent job in so many areas of the pitch should not be taken for granted.

i'd love to see us bring in a quality left back (or see if colback can grow into that role maybe), but i certainly wouldn't move richardson on, he's worth three squad players for the way he can fill in. in his time with us i've seen him put in outstanding performances at left back, left wing, right wing, central midfield, and off the striker. players like that are worth their weight in gold when a team hits a bad run of injuries, and god knows that's happened to us a few times. we shouldn't be so quick to consign him to the scrapheap imo.

I see you have chosen not to name a left back that would be better for 6 mil? There are not many about. It's a valid arguement because I don't think Richardson is **** at left back (so that is why I argue the toss of bringing in a left back who would be arguable no better for 5-6 million) How much was George Macartney again???? Yep I'd play Ricco before him! As said before we have one of the best defences in the league although a lot of that is down to the way we defend as a team. You also need to remember Richardson was playing with a young kid in front of him and that partnership in a few games could well flourish. Leave Richardson alone and kick your dog or something! If you havn't gotta dog borrow Sids!

Richardson wasn't terrible on Saturday but, by the same reasoning he wasn't that good. I've been saying we need a LB since that man got shot of Collins and, I'll stick by that till we get one in. Richardson is a good emergency LB and that is it, he should be played in his natural position LM/LW.
I'm not blaming Richardson one bit here he is doing what he is told to do by his manager and, to be honest I'd put MON in ahead of McCartney.

Have to agree with this - I thought the full backs marshalled the wingers superbly (I'm sure someone on sky recently said that Sinclair has better stats this season than Messi<doh>) - Dyer fouled Richardson every time the ball got played to him but Chris Foy could only see when Ricco returned the favour by doing exactly the same - but Richardson marshalled Dyer superbly and simply used his pace every time and Dyer hardly ever got past. I think McClean's performance Saturday wasnn't great particularly in helping Richardson out defensively - although he still put a few excellent crosses into the box
