As a very sought after local celebrity and all round well connected individual (alright I just get in where the drafts don't lol), I was invited into one of the executive boxes yesterday and had a good bit crack with a couple of maybe itk people.

One of them mentioned a conversation they heard about potential transfers this window, which had been heard between a very 'senior' sources, that said we are definately chasing a striker of 'British' orign, or from the British Isles?

No names, just the fact we are definately in the market, however I also heard the rumour about Andy Johnson again as well from a different lad.

For me, we need a left back desperately too, as Richardson again had a new arsehole ripped out yesterday. He is simply a woeful left back.

Richardson wasn't great but many 'proper' left backs have done far worse against Dyer this year. He stuck to the task all day and I can only remember Dyer putting one good ball into the box and that was after a tremendous pass from sigurdseen. I know hes the new it boy but McClean was our worst player yesterday, that said it is the first time I've been underwhelmed by him.

It was just evident yesterday about how preconceptions effect peoples reactions to something happening on the pitch. Rico gives the ball away (boos, get him off, he's f'ing useless etc)
McClean in the space of a minute got caught in possession, gave the ball away and then just watched the man he was meant to be marking run past him (no boos no chants nothing)
I.wish people would get off Richardsons back.

I wish we had a left back.

Agree about McClean yesterday. I'd prefer to have seen Richo play there second half. However, the young lad needs to get game time and learn his trade.

Aye, we're gonna play him just in the derby games, and no more. role reversal.

Couldn't disagree with u more on Richardson. He was one of our better pkayers yesterday! Their main dangerman was kept very quiet by him. You can always tell if Richardson is going to play well after 2or 3 touches. Agreed on Mcclean but he is young and will be given time.

Eh? Dyer pissed all over him?

I sometimes wonder if we all went to the same game. Richardson is a terrible left back. He is a left side midfield or nothing for me.

Richardson had quite a good game as did all the back 4 the were playing against some top inderviduals.... however i whould prefer to see a new striker with bentner out

Whilst I agree I'd prefer a real left back . What did Dyer do yesterday?? Richardson had enough pace to cover him (think Dyer beat him once) never got a cross in. We had done our home work and Mcclean kept helping out by doubling up. I think on this occassion your only seeing Richardsons mistakes. He did well yesterday.

I thought both full backs had cracking game yesterday, yes both got passed at times but they had a 90 minute task and how many chances did Swansea have, exactly.

Truth is its just the fashion to have a go at Richardson.

Both Brown and O'Shea made mitakes, not one mention of either.

Sess tried a few times to take on one player to many, no mention.

i will give you an example a real LB in Steven Caulker had several crosses from his side while richardson had less aginst a quality winger who has been taring up the league

a real LB we have at the club kilgallon and we dont need a new one...richardson can go back to LM when we have a defence back again

Brown and Oshea both had a great game and made a few last min challanges and sess was our biggest threat

I thought Richardson was great yesterday and has been for a while now.
I'll probably get slated for this but it's Gardener that worries me, wonder goals aside. He just seems to give the ball away far to easy far to often.
That said I definitely want the lad to stay. A good run in the team could be just what he needs.

It's all about opinions I guess but I thought he was dreadful.

It's his pace that actually saves him time after time, as his positional sense, distribution and tackling are awful.

The sooner we invest in a proper left back the better and I'd be happy for him and McClean to fight for the left sided midfield place.

As for Gardener, its a little unfair to criticise him, as he is in and out of the team more times than a Christmas party song. If he actually got a run in the team in the attacking midfield role he was bought for, we'd see a better player imo.

Ricco did alright yesterday, but we still need a proper LB, as to young McClean he likes to go forwardwhich he's good at but he needs to learn to hold the ball as well.

I agree, my point was that all three also did things wrong but they are never mentioned, rightly so IMO but Richardson sneezes at the wrong time and is pounced on.

Correct...Richardson isn't a left back..he plays there because we haven't got one and does a reasonable, but not brilliant job...give him a little credit.
