Maybe in the style of Ajax Orlando and Ajax Cape Town, Chivas USA and that "Blades" team Sheff Utd have in China, we should offer these guys our patronage, especially considering our clubs proud history of talented Hungarians
As far as I can see on their website, Hódmezővásárhely FC are called "Munkás", or "The Workmen". They were founded in 1912 as the Hódmezővásárhely Munkás Testedző Egyesület, the Hódmezővásárhely Workers Physical Exercise Association. I've no idea why the connection with a tiger emblem, or even OUR bloody tiger emblem in reverse (they do play in blue and yellow, though). They play in the Alföldi regional league of the Hungarian 3rd division, in the back of behind on the edge of the Great Plain. I'd fancy myself at that level, even with me wonky knees. PS Hódmezővásárhely loosely translates as "Beaver Heath Market Place". Hence, hum, the tiger emblem.
i hope the club doesnt take legal action though , it is copyright and trademark theft , but could such a small club afford the legal cost . Fair play to them i say - imitation is a form of flattery i suppose.
Aye, I did think this before I posted it. I'm sure if anything it'd be a polite letter to them, as I imagine they aren't exactly raking it in from kit sales and the like...
