    hi new poster here,

i always find that when watching Williamson is that when he loses ball or misses a tackle he never sprints to get back into place or cover. and his pace is horrible, really hope we get a cb so he can be back on bench where hes good for cover but not starting.

just annoys me cause pardew gets at benny about not tracking but Williamson and strolla never seem get a word said about them.

Mkie Williamson done us a favor, he has pretty much forced us to bring in a defender :)

Williamson's touch is ****, he ****s himself when a ball comes towards him and he has less than a minute to control it, he's slow as ****, his turning circle is the size of a roundabout. However, he's very, very good at holding a line and he's a clever defender. He just can't deal with pace, or someone pressuring him

His distribution is ****. He dithers on it when he's under pressure and just hacks it away when he has time.

This article is harsh, today aside.

In the time he's been back, as a team we've looked more assured at the back and it's clear he's brought some confidence back to the midfield knowing that they have a capable defender behind them.

i not basing it on just this game, weve been good cause our defence hasnt been playing a rb/lb in the centre and cause colo and krul are making up for his mistakes. its all well and good being able hold good line but he just needs to much cover from other players to be called good

Williamson is a good championship defender, poor premiership player. Tries hard, just too slow and not technically gifted enough to play at this level in my opinion.

Although I agree Williamson is good cover and nothing more, that high line we kept when Johnson came on was poor decision making on Pardews part.

Williamson is an excellent defender, he's just slower than continental drift. Playing offside on the halfway line was just idiotic from Pardew. A rare tactical howler from him.

It's not his fault, they're playing a high line despite the fact that we know pace aren't Coloccini and Williamson's greatest assets, high line defending particularly with these two has never worked.

Williamson is a very decent defender, didn't hear you all moaning about him when he came back to replace Perch. The tactics hinder him greatly.

Good, but like Colo, not great for playing a high line. Would prefer another defender in asap(need anyway), to fit in first team.

Pardews tactics crap here. We haven't got the paciest of defences yet we play a high line !!!! Number of times we were open to the counter attack after losing possession around Fulham's box was alarming.

Willo had a mare. We need a defender with pace...

Criticising Willo for one bad game, when it was a ridiculous high line that cost us <doh>. He may not be brilliant on the ball, but he does his job well.

Exactly this. When we defend deep he is excellent - but playing the system we did today, we'd have actually been better with Perch at Centre Back. Willo's much too slow for the high line.

Or stop playing a stupid high line that done us over against West Brom now here.
