Now that Howson is away to the land of Norwich and Kisnorbo is fecked, who will be the Leeds captain for the rest of this season and beyond? My own thoughts are that it should go to Clayton or Snoddy....
They are the obvious choices, although I wouldn't like to see it go to Clayton when he's only just got into the team this year, and his early form has trailed off a bit. Both could potentially be gone by the summer, or even this January. I'd give it to Lonergan. He's experienced and will be at the club next season. Not really many options past those 3.
I would like to see it go to the new a chief at Centre Back.... Craig Dawson Jon Woodgate Matthew Upson Aaron Mokoena Richard Dunne If we are choosing from the existing squad then its got to be Snodgrass.
It needs to go to someone who has plenty of time on their contract and has shown commitment, it would be rather embarrassing losing two captains in 12 months.
I second Lonergan, purely because every other first team player is either injured or at risk of being sold in the Summer. That doesn't say much about the current state of our beloved club does it?
Lonergan was skipper at Preston. Not keen on a keeper as Captain but he's more likely to be here once the window shuts!
the exact quote from SG was that lonergan would be captain unless someone with more suited to the role joins before the end of the window
I'd agree that Loners is probably the best bet. I'm not a fan of keepers being captains as a general rule, but as others have pointed out we can't risk giving it to someone who might not be here after summer really. Need to get some consistency going.
