Do not like that AT ALL. Can't see us winning the game with that midfield, Pardew got it so wrong against QPR it was laughable really, we played some of the worst football and one of the most inept performances in that first 25 minutes I've ever seen us play and that includes the horrible Dalglish/Souness/Gullit/Kinnear times. QPR could have been 3 up if they weren't so ****. Can't believe he'd go and do it all again but actually with a poorer player filling Cabaye's boots in the centre.

Don't mean to be overly negative but that midfield will be totally static - no penetration, no pace, no guile. I love Pardew but he isn't completely infallible, as seen by many of his frankly baffling substitutions. Just have to see how it turns out I guess, somehow it could end up a tactical masterstroke and if so I doff my hat to a ****ing genius.

I fancy the team to be:

    ................................................Krul....................................

    Simpson................Williamson.................Coloccini..............Santon

    Raylor...........Ben Arfa...........Guthrie...........Gosling.........Gutierrez

    ..........................................Best..........................................

Subs: Harper, Shola, Perch, Abeid, Vuckic, Obertan, Tavernier.

I'm assuming Cabaye will not be available, if he is then replace Gosling with Cabaye.

Am I the only person who thinks Cabaye will play? It didn't look too bad to me.

Stretchered off? I suppose he did stand up straight away to have a go at Derry.

Wouldnt rule out Pardew just playing mind games and Cabaye starting tomorrow, fully fit.

I don't think he needed stretchered off to be hoenst Smudger. In fairness his jumping up could be just adrenaline but Pards seemed to suggest it was no more than a blow on the ankle. I think he got a bit arsey because it was possibly the ankle he had problems with but I do think he went on like a bit of bitch if truth be told. I can honestly see him turning out. At worst he'd have had a bit of swelling and bruising. They get rid of that in no time these days. I could be wrong and I don't want to suggest he was being a pussy but I found it rich given he has committed far worse and more dangerous fouls this season!

Aye the stretcher just automatically makes you think the worst, could be very minor. If he isnt back tomorrow I expect him fit for the weekend after - Pardew didnt seem concerned at all.

Then I'd try to incorporate Jonas, HBA and Obertan.

The 2nd one of thse is how I'd line up if Cabaye really can't play. Otherwise just swapping him for Abeid. I like Abeid, very tidy footballer.

I would love it to be this, and I think Cabaye is fit, they are just playing their cards close to the chest as they say. A fast passing 4-5-1 is needed on Saturday.

Without wanting to sound like a member of the Yohan Can Do No Wrong Society, wasn't the tackle from behind - so he couldn't actually really see how bad or wreckless it was? He could have felt a leg smash into his ankle rather than the ball, knew he was in a lot of pain and instantly saw the red mist.

I agree with you though, the tackle wasn't as bad as his reaction would have you think it was, and he's put in some eyebrow raisers himself this season.

I thought the tackle was head on? There's photos of Derry's whole body in the air other than than his foot. Stoods right on Cabayes ankle.

For some reason I think he just lost it. I must admit I've done it before and apologised for losing it afterwards. I once felt a lad had deliberately elbowed me and cut my eye. I went absolutely ****ing mental. After the game I'd calmed down and realised the lad was using his arms for leverage. We all have our moments in the heat of battle! The one thing I like about Pardew is he fairly honest about most things unless he thinks there's an advantage in not being (like the striker comments). I think he knew that was nothing particularly spicy as far as our football goes.

More than anything I want Cabaye fit. I think Fulham will suit him if Pards decides to go back to playing proper football. Jol likes it on the deck and I think if it comes down to controlling midfield, we'll have the best footballer in Cabaye

Absolutely agree with this on Pardew. I was really hoping he'd say something along the lines of what he did say in his post-match interview.

And yep, we need Cabaye for this game especially, for the reasons you specified.
