gills, oxon - your going to get me started off again <laugh>

This player was the only one I thought worth a mention from the Aldershot game. Caused a few problems and if memory serves me correct, pacey.

Oops, there I go again mentioning that word pace, I will get my coat.

btw, does anyone know who is our quickest player left in the squad? From the Stoke game I believe Matt Lawrence was challenging for that title, with his little run through the middle <whistle>

yes brb nice to see someone notices a talent we've missed out on <ok>
on too matt lawrence what a run, lawrence looked like a new player...all for that split moment/second at least!
not sure of the fastest player brb, but running round a field with no head goes to oli <laugh>

as i say we have very much missed out on a decent player in mcglashan...would of been a telling signing, who if we went up this season...would of next season been in place to step our game up with what squad we had....i'm gutted anyway! <grr>

belfast we need to sign players that are going to make a difference, that hit the ground running...the aldershot player J M was that man...not jennison myrie-williams, as talked of!
as for players we have now, players that need to step there games up quickly, i'm very very disappointed with the likes of whelpdale, lee, montrose, frampton and weston...though of late he's been better than the last two seasons on a whole!
oh....not forgetting dennis oli...show him the door please...he's holding us back!!!

<ok> brb it's a tail of two half...well more or less...funny but true at the same time!

just on lawrence, do you think it's a blessing that matt lawrence may be out with an ankle injury this weekend, so that we get to put charlie lee back at right back...seeing as lee has played best for us in that position??...i think it helps us anyway lee playing that role!
keep lawrence as back up, along with king who i hear is back on the bench this weekend maybe?

even though i said in a previous message earlier that lee has been disappointing this season so far...like a few others of note!, i do think lee playing right back is his position for the gills right now!

gills, oxon - Lee at right back, see no reason why not. Although I hasten to add, I have no problem with Lawrence or Framps in defence. I all ways prefer the older stronger players in the squad, to deal with the big boys when required. However, they also need to be protected in themselves with some pace around them. To stop those with pace getting past the old workhorses, without having to resort to the obvious card game, accept when all else fails, what needs to be done, needs to be done.

Something that appears to get get missed with Lawrence is the corners. When he moves up front he can unsettle the opposition. Hessy sometimes misses the blatantly obvious and all ways wants to stick with the safe option. That is all well and good, when you have a team like Stoke, because patience is their virtue but we do not seem to have a style. Well not quite true, Flitney (good keeper) will all ways launch the ball, serves no purpose or gain for either side. Richards (improved) another that likes to launch the ball, even when not under pressure, again serves no purpose. As for the left wing, who have we got, oh precisely erm no one, although will be good to see Martin at LB after his suspension.

Kuffour now one area I am happy with, the question though who to partner?

Biggest worry...well yes apart from the obvious and IF we achieve that, have we built a side capable of League One football, remembering this is also about planning for the future. I have my doubts but we still have about another nail biting four months to decide.

Let us hope it is a good four months, especially as I have just gone through a lot of grief this week at work planning in advance for games, the life of a Gills fan eh?

What will you be doing on Saturday 26th.,May ? Looks more likely that the only grass you'll be looking at is the one that you'll be mowing.

Kentish Man - I agree, let's get the ball on the deck!

I watched a match, I think it was last Sunday. Now I know nothing about Premier League clubs and hate even admitting I watched a game but Swansea were playing (BFCRed is never going to let me live this one down) some North London Pampers side. First time I had seen the Swans and was impressed. Kept the ball on the turf and won 3-2.

Going to slightly disagree on this one. It's not about playing passing football or long ball football but about playing the right football at the right time. Not even game to game but minute to minute. The right ball at the right time whether it be a 5-10 yard pass or a 50+ yard pass if it's played at a bad time or incorrectly you will just put your team under pressure. Arsenal's biggest problem over the last 5 years has been a reluctance to put their foot through the ball when needed and they have conceded many late goals and dropped too many points and lost cups because of this. The most important thing is to keep possession and make the ball do the work, this will lead to chances being being created and, of course, if the the other team does not have the ball then it's far more difficult for them to score.

I do feel that we have to improve what we do off the ball both in possession and out of it. When we have the ball our players don't make themselves available enough. This certainly hinders the passing game.

Sorry I know it's off topic.

Shame we didn't get McGashlan. I think he would have adde a bit of balance to the side.
